    About this property

A stunning, designer detached country house situated in 2.3 acres of grounds in the village of Bradnop near Leek. This superb house is perfect for a large family or group of friends looking for a bit of luxury to come home to after a day exploring the nearby Peak District. The tastefully furnished entrance hall is an impressively large boot room, ideal for getting out of your walking boots and drying the dogs. Then pass through to the large contemporary kitchen with a breakfast and dining area which is a fantastic place to gather while you discuss the day’s busy itinerary. The sitting room is beautifully finished with high quality sofas and French windows opening out to the garden. There’s a woodburning stove to set the atmosphere while you sit and chat or enjoy a favourite movie together. The contemporary design and quality continues through to the light and airy bedrooms, one of which opens out to a huge decked roof terrace where you can step out of bed and greet the morning sun or enjoy a glass of wine as the sun dips over the horizon. As you’d expect, the bathroom is very high end with a designer roll-top bath and large walk-in shower. Across the courtyard is a separate garage annexe which has been cleverly adapted to create a first floor apartment with a double bed and a sitting area with a sofa bed, TV and games console making it a great place to park teenagers or a place to break away from the madding crowd. The annexe also has a contemporary shower room, so it is completely self-contained if required. Sit out on the patio and enjoy a barbecue as the kids run off the last of their energy. The grounds are beautiful with countryside all around and a babbling river flows along the bottom of the garden where you can watch the wildlife and nod to the occasional passing farmer crossing the ford. Tempting though it might be to spend your whole time here, there is plenty to do within easy reach, whether it's riding at the equestrian centre just up the road, exploring Leek, Hartington or Bakewell or driving the short distance into the breathtakingly beautiful Peak District with the Roaches nearby. A luxurious retreat to be enjoyed any time of year.

The small and pretty rural hamlet of Bradnop is situated on the western edge of the Peak District National Park close to Leek, with its antiques shops, and within easy driving distance of the market towns of Buxton and Ashbourne. Nearby is superb walking with Dovedale, the beautiful Manifold Valley, and the popular Manifold Cycle Track all within easy reach. There are lots of pretty villages to explore close by, many with good pubs. Alton Towers is less than 15 minutes' drive away.

"The house has everything you can ask for. Very spacious and well maintained."

"We had a lovely holiday in the Peaks at this cottage. The house was as described and had everything we needed for a home away from home. There was ample parking, lots of space for kids to play and adults to chill out, a fantastic dinner table and even an ice machine on the fridge! We did have a problem that previous guests had not warned the owner that the gas had run out for the annexe meaning no heating/hot water in that room. This did get sorted out though eventually. "The house was lovely but was unfortunately just off a very busy main road so despite being in the countryside there wasn’t anywhere to go for a run, walk or family cycle. We had some trouble with the heating in the annexe but eventually we were able to sort this following a couple of conversations with the owners and we had a rather serious leak in the living room when it rained but despite that the main house was well appointed, warm, comfortable and cosy."

"What a lovely house Gorsthead Mill Farm is. I would definitely recommend it. Me and my 7 friends stayed here for my 40th birthday weekend and we had an amazing time, in part because of the beautiful house and surroundings. The house had everything we needed (even a slow cooker) and it was warm and comfortable and inviting. The weather was snowing at the time and it was lovely to settle down in front of the log burner and keep warm and cozy. The house is clean, the bedrooms are large and spacious and the beds are pretty comfy too. The bed linen was clean and crisp and the bath towels were soft and fluffy. Perfect. The owner is lovely and makes sure you’re all settled and everything is ok which was really lovely and welcoming. We went to a lovely local pub (the jarvis arms) for Sunday dinner which was delicious. We will definitely book again maybe in the summer or autumn so we can go for long walks round the surrounding areas without our wellies."

"We stayed for a week a Gorsthead Mill Farm and had a truly wonderful time. The house has everything you need and more and so much space. Our kids loved running around. Despite the temperatures outside being close to freezing we were cosy and warm inside. The Log burner wasn't needed but we still put it on most evenings. I would thoroughly recommend this house to anyone looking for either a relaxing weekend or something a bit more energetic as there are numerous walks close by and the scenery is beautiful"

"We booked the house as a surprise 65th birthday (family gathering) and the location, house and facilities did not disappoint! From start to finish we had a fantastic week and couldn't recommend highly enough. Communication with Matt (the owner) was great, emails were quickly answered and they even let us check in early to help us with the surprise - great service! The house is nestled away and although you feel secluded it is easly accessible and you can venture out by car or walking which we took full advantage of. The house has everything you need - the log fire is beautiful, a wonderfully equipped kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. We will certainly come back in the summer months to take advantage of the decked area."

"If you are planning a stay in the Peaks with friends or family then this luxury farmhouse is a great bet. Off the main road with no other property in sight, you are in splendid isolation but just a few minutes (by car) from the pleasant town of Leek. The accommodation is very well equipped, well-kept and with its wood burner (with wood available) in the large lounge, very cosy!"
    Mr Lloyd ‐ 1 Nov 2017
"Fantastic location and a very beautiful house for a large group. Highly recommended. Thanks to the owners for making our holiday so enjoyable."
    Mrs Lamb ‐ 1 Nov 2017
"This was an exceptional property. We had a fabulous time, I hope we will be able to come again. Thank you"
    bronollie ‐ 1 Nov 2017
"This farmhouse is in a great location to explore the surrounding area with all essential amenities nearby in Leek. It was lovely to stay somewhere that provided plenty of glasses, plates and cutlery etc. The wood-burner was a nice treat to sit around in the evenings and we all enjoyed playing some of the board games available to use. We had a problem with the main oven not working but Matt the owner tried his best to sort it out for us. Chatsworth house is within a reasonable travelling distance and we spent a lovely day there exploring both house and gardens - well worth a visit especially if it is a sunny day as the views are amazing."

"Our family stayed here for a week while touring this area of the country and we loved it. It has the country get-away feeling of being surrounded by nature while being close enough to main roads that it's easy to travel about and also is very convenient drive to Leek for food, drink, and shopping. The house is beautiful yet comfortable, spacious, and had everything we needed. The kitchen and dining area are wonderfully sized for families/groups who want to visit over meals together. I think you will be very pleased with your stay here!"
