About this property

Perched on the outskirts of the pretty village of Castleton, Derbyshire, is this superb two-bedroom barn conversion, Harry Eyre. Enjoying a fantastic location on a non-working farm in the stunning Peak District National Park, and an interior filled with character, original beams and enjoying exceptional views out towards Castleton and Mam Tor, Harry Eyre is a wonderful pet-friendly choice for couples or a family of four. The property benefits from off-road parking, and a generous rear garden bordered by stream, with plenty of seating and a barbecue, perfect for dining alfresco on warmer evenings with a view! Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, where you will find a fully-equipped kitchen for preparing your best dishes, ready to savour at the dining table for four. After dinner, retreat to the plush sofas with a glass of wine and recount the day's adventures in front of the crackling woodburning stove, sure to be your pooch’s favourite spot! Completing the ground floor is a handy wet room for freshening up after a day of exploring. Continue upstairs to find a contemporary bathroom with a gorgeous freestanding bath and handheld shower, along with two well-presented bedrooms, a double with TV and views out to Mam Tor, and a delightful twin with views over the courtyard. Explore the village, where you can treat your loved ones to a delicious meal at 1530, The Castle, Peveril Tearooms, sample local ales at The Peak District’s Eccentric Alehouse, stock up on essentials at the supermarket, visit the historic Peveril Castle, explore the fascinating caverns of Blue John, Speedwell and Peak, embark on a hike through the National Trust Dark Peaks or soak up the awe-inspiring views from atop of Mam Tor. Nearby, you will find Hope, home to a charming selection of cafes, the Curry Cabin, The Woodroffe Arms and The Hope Chest Deli, along with the popular Watson’s Farm Shop. Further afield, you’ll find Buxton, home to the Buxton Opera House, Poole’s Cavern, Solomon’s Temple, and Buxton Park. Explore the Peaks like never before with a stay at Harry Eyre.

Castleton, a town in the Peak District, is stunning. It sits atop Hope Valley, close to some fantastic hiking terrain. The village's rich history is highlighted by the Norman Peverill Castle Keep, which sits on a hill overlooking the town and the National Park below. Hikers, mountaineers, and cavers flock to the village to test their mettle on the trails and in the Winnats Pass. The magnificent semiprecious stone Blue John is exclusively found and mined at Castleton, making the town and its caves famous around the world. Visitors flock to Castleton each December for the town's many attractions, including its beautiful Christmas lights and a wide variety of fun holiday activities, as well as its fantastic Visitor Centre, which features a small museum illustrating life in the Hope Valley. You may find the picturesque settlements of Edale (where the Pennine Way begins), Hope, and Hathersage (which has an outdoor pool open during the warmer months) not far away. Spend the day at Alton Towers or check out the stately mansions of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall. Market towns of Ashbourne and Leek are a bit further away, but they're still within driving distance, as are Buxton and Matlock Bath.
