It was a great location for walking and touring around the Peaks. The cottage was well appointed and equipped (minus the advertised DVD Player). Whilst the weather was variable (almost got blown off Mam Tor!) it did not stop us and the cottage was warm and comfortable. Great pub within 15 mins walk 'The Cheshire Cheese'. Would come again!

We arrived at Calico Cottage to find it beautifully clean with some lovely fresh produce such as eggs, milk, bread and biscuits. The cottage is small but perfectly formed and ideal for us as a couple. Views were amazing and as well as our own private garden area you could access the communal garden and see the horses grazing in the field. The local walks from the doorstep are in abundance and we also drove to Chatsworth House which is about half an hour drive and well worth a visit. The Cheshire Cheese Inn is half a mile exactly from the cottage and does meals all day and Hope itself is less than a mile where you can find cafes, and 2 other pubs. The Old Hall Hotel does a great Sunday Roast. I would definitely recommend Calico Cottage so much so that we have already booked to come again next year.

Such a lovely cottage in beautiful well-kept grounds. We were there in spring, so the gardens and flowering pots were spectacular. The cottage is lovely inside and out.We were pleasantly surprised with some local treats left for us to enjoy.The location is peaceful with beautiful country views. If you like walking it is a pretty walk into town where there is a farm shop, pubs, cafe & small supermarket. Some walking trails are easily accessible from the cottage. We had a lovely walk through the countryside to the railway station, we were able to get to Manchester for the day. So many other attractions in the Dark Peak are an easy drive away.
