Calver 0.7 miles. Babbling Brook is a superb, three-storey cottage resting in Stoney Middleton, in the heart of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire. With characterful exposed stone walls and a charming brook running alongside the property, the cottage makes a wonderful escape for friends, families or couples looking to explore this scenic area. When you arrive at the cottage, off-road parking on the lower-ground level allows you to unpack your bags with ease. Step straight into the kitchen/diner to find all you need to concoct delicious meals and quick picnics to take out on your excursions, including an electric oven and hob and a handy dishwasher. Make your way up the stairs to the sitting room where you can sink into the sofas to watch a film on the Smart TV while the flame-effect fire flickers and warms the space around you; this floor is also home to a convenient shower room where you can freshen up in the mornings or on return from a long walk in the countryside. Upstairs, you can rest your head after an adventurous day in one of two bedrooms, each with plenty of storage for your belongings; the first is a king-size with a zip/link feature for a flexible sleeping arrangement, and the second is a double. Completing the interior is a bathroom, with a bath and shower over so you have the option of a quick rinse off, or a long soak with a good book. Outside, the warmer months can be enjoyed at the table seating four, with a glass of wine in your hand as you listen to the brook babbling away. There is a bench seat by both the rear and front doors to allow you to remove your dirty boots after a day exploring the hills and villages. Just a stone's throw from the property is a lovely pub and restaurant, The Moon Inn at Stoney Middleton, so you can take a break from cooking in the evenings, or even stop off for a refreshment after a day of walking. Eyam is a small town just a couple of miles away that is home to some of the most iconic attractions in the area; Curbar Edge is a great place to walk and take in the beautiful views, Padley Gorge is a great spot for a picnic, and the Eyam Museum is a great place to learn about the town's history and there are also plenty of restaurants and bars in the area to satisfy any hunger or thirst. The popular town of Bakewell is within easy reach by car, or a long bike ride; the charming Derbyshire town is steeped in history and rich in attractions. Start your day with a visit to Chatsworth House, one of the UK's most famous and impressive stately homes, then head on over to Haddon Hall, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire before finishing off your day with a visit to The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop. The Peak District National Park is a glorious place for walkers, cyclists and explorers alike with an abundance of peaceful paths to follow and landmarks to find. Whatever your style of adventure, choose Babbling Brook as your base.
