Snaptrip says

Knoll Cottage in Youlgreave is praised for its warm, cosy atmosphere and stunning location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped space, good-sized bedrooms, and the proximity to beautiful walks and local amenities. The responsive landlord and the cottage's charm add to the positive experience, despite some noting the steep access path and a slight doggy smell in one room.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is generally described as clean. One mention of a 'doggy smell' in the dining room slightly affects the score, but overall, the cleanliness is well-regarded.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, with a lush valley, crystalline river, and proximity to local attractions. The steep path is noted, but does not detract significantly from the location's appeal.

Guests find the cottage comfortable and cosy, with ample seating and a log fire. The comfort of the property contributes positively to the guests' experiences.

Facilities are generally good, including a washer, dryer, and satellite TV. Some guests missed having a dishwasher, and there were mentions of maintenance issues which were promptly addressed, hence the score reflects these minor concerns.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

A lovely cottage in a wonderful location, clinging to the side of beautiful Bradford Dale in picturesque Youlgreave village.

Grasping to the edge of Bradford Dale, in the quieter part of beautiful Youlgreave is Knoll - a really lovely, traditional cottage. Comfortable furniture and attractively decorated rooms, adorning the cottage’s original features, you’ll feel right at home. Snuggle up in the lounge next to the glowing log burning stove and watch the flames dance about while spending some quality time with your loved ones.

You won’t be disappointed with the incredible views from the cottage. Sit outside on the sunny patio and enjoy the peace and quiet of the valley. Youlgreave is a lovely village, with history around every corner and banks on the Dale perfect for picnicking. Stroll towards the nearby village shops and pubs, or wander down to the Dale and seek out kingfishers in the river before exploring the rest of the amazing countryside and the Peak District.

Jump into the car and a short drive away you’ll find Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the beautiful town of Bakewell, famous for its delicious Pudding. There's plenty of other attractions, such as Crich’s tramway, Carsington’s wild waters sports, Castleton's Blue John caverns and Caudwell’s heritage and craft centre. Knoll is a perfect place to get away from it all.

Lovely location with beautiful walks nearby.

Nice short stay in this cosy cottage. The footpath down to the river runs directly in front of the house, and the river downstream and especially upstream is beautiful. We saw a dipper which was a bonus. You can't hear anything from the cottage other than the river and birds. The village is a good hub to explore the Peak District from, with 3 pubs that we found, and a nice coffee shop in the YHA, bakery and post office/shop. Very steep path down to the cottage which wasn't a problem for us but may be worth bearing in mind if there are any mobility issues. The wood burner was a bonus and warmed the dining room area up quickly.
