Middleton-by-Wirksworth is a delightful village.  A former quarry and lead mining village, it nestles quietly on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Matlock as well as the village of Cromford which is a world heritage site only 5 minutes away.  The village is centred on a long main street which consists of two good pubs, one with a great food menu and the other a social drinking pub, both within walking distance, before eventually winding its way down into nearby Wirksworth with a selection of shops, restaurants, herita. . .
