About this property

This is an excellent ground floor stone-built apartment in the village of Middleton by Wirksworth in Derbyshire, just one mile from the Peak District National Park. Situated in a fantastic location, the apartment is perfect for a couples' retreat. Step into the open plan living area, complete with a well-appointed kitchen area along with dining furniture for two. There is a wonderful seating area with comfortable leather sofas and a Smart TV, making it an ideal spot to sit and put your feet up after a long day of exploring this superb area. The Miners Rest offers an immaculate double bedroom with pleasant linen and features traditional wooden beams. A family bathroom completes the accommodation. When the sun comes out, you can enjoy a refreshing drink on the private decking area. Middleton by Wirksworth is a delightful village offering two well-respected pubs. The popular spa town of Matlock is certainly worth visiting whilst you're here, featuring stunning buildings and good selection of shops. The neighbouring Matlock Bath is a good place to go, with The Heights of Abraham being within easy reach, providing a fantastic way to indulge in the incredible views of the area. Within a short distance, is the lovely little market town of Bakewell, with its wonderful choice of shops and eateries, and a traditional market every Monday. A short drive takes you to Carsington Water, where there is an abundance of water sporting available both through courses and hire, as well as bicycle hire and boat fishing available. A short trip in the other direction will take you to Cromford, which is a key part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site and home to the world’s first successful water powered cotton spinning mill, which revolutionised the factory system, making the most of the Industrial Revolution. Also within easy reach are the majestic Chatsworth House and the much praised Haddon Hall, both well worth a visit. The Miners Rest is a delightful apartment which can be enjoyed throughout the year.

The village of Middleton nestles on a hillside above Wirksworth and Cromford, it's also 6 miles from Matlock. The village has two pubs. Wirksworth has a selection of shops and amenities. The countryside is a walker's and cyclist's paradise, with the disused High Peak Railway line, recently converted into The High Peak Cycle Trail. Matlock provides a range of shops and pubs, whilst the National Trust properties and museums throughout the area are not to be missed. A great location at any time of year!
