Railway Cottage is a truly wonderful, two bedroom, detached holiday cottage, set within the gorgeous High Peak, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the owner living next door. Situated in the grounds of a former station house, with its elevated hill-top position, the views from this cottage are quite breathtaking. All on the ground floor, you will find a peaceful living room where you can grab a good book and take a seat on the comfy large leather sofa. At the opposite end of the cottage you’ll find the kitchen/dining room. The well-equipped kitchen boasts lovely units and all the usual mod cons. There are two double bedrooms both offering en-suite facilities, and one being zip and link. Outside the property, make the most of the lovely courtayrd and bask in the sun, or enjoy a meal al fresco.
Railway Cottage is situated in the village of Longcliffe, a crossroads hamlet in the English county of Derbyshire. Directly situated for access to the High Peak Trail, which is a decommissioned, converted railway line, and is now a popular trail for cycling and walking. Enjoy the scenic Peak District National Park and tranquil Carsington Water, with lots of activities and amenities including cycling, walking, water sports, an adventure playground and a waterside restaurant.
Close by is the popular Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, which has been attracting visitors to the area since the spa was developed in the late 17th century. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlock offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car, which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham, a great place for all the family with its caves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. Also just a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north is the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park. Other places to visit nearby include Haddon Hall, Tissington, Ashbourne, Buxton and Keddleston Hall. A little further afield, visit Alton Towers theme park for a great day out for both adults and children. All in all Railway Cottage is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday in a superb location that will not disappoint. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Perfect, just perfect! From the moment we arrived at Railway Cottage in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, we knew that we would enjoy our stay. The welcome we initially received from Phil was a great start and it was only going to get better! After a lovely chat we made our way into the accommodation and within a very short time we felt at home. The kitchen, with a superb 'Welcome Pack', was a joy to be in. It had everything we could possibly want during our stay. In addition to the pack, there was a bottle of wine on the table with two glasses ready to be filled. There were so many little 'extra touches' throughout the cottage and the attention to detail spoke so much about the way the it had been prepared. We were still looking around when Gill brought us some scones which had just come from her oven. Jam and cream making the perfect partners to the scones. They were superb! The cottage was wonderful in every detail and the bed was very comfortable indeed! Gill and Phil were the perfect hosts being attentive without being intrusive. The conversations we had with them, together and individually, added so much to our stay and we look forward to seeing them again. We met as strangers but feel that we left as friends. The cottage is within very easy reach of many attractions and seven days was not long enough to enjoy them all. There is walking from the door and the views are incredible. Thank you so much Gill and Phil for everything and for making this week in Derbyshire such a real joy, you are stars! I would recommend this cottage, together with its owners, to anyone and have already done so with other family members. There is nothing I can say that would make the experience better for future guests.

Cottage was great, 2 good double bedrooms big kitchen - small living room. Location right on the cyclepath was nice, great views and good location to explore the peak district from. We felt really welcome (fresh baked scones!) and had fun stay!
