Guests say

Lion Cottage in the Peak District is highly praised for its comfort, cleanliness, and prime location with easy access to local attractions and walks. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, cosy atmosphere, and the convenience of nearby pubs. While there was an isolated complaint about heating, the overall sentiment is very positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as very clean, indicating high standards of cleanliness. One review specifically mentions the property being 'much bigger than we had thought it would be and very clean,' which suggests that cleanliness is a strong point for this property.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with easy access to local attractions, walks, and amenities. Reviews mention the convenience of having pubs nearby and the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The property's location in a quiet village is also appreciated for its tranquillity.

Comfort is a recurring theme in the reviews, with guests finding the beds cosy and the cottage warm upon arrival. The presence of two bathrooms and a cosy duvet are mentioned as contributing to the overall comfort. However, one negative review regarding the heating system slightly impacts the score.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and modern appliances. The property provides a comfortable stay with all necessary amenities. However, there is a single complaint about the heating system, which suggests a possible issue with maintenance or user-friendliness.

While some reviews mention welcome extras and a welcome pack, there is not enough information to determine if these are consistent offerings or one-off occurrences. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such gifts will always be provided, and the score is set to null.

Lovely kitchen & modern appliances, comfortable beds and downstairs furniture plus a welcome pack which was a nice touch from the owners. As we didn’t experience any problems we didn’t have much contact with them but they were easy to contact on the one occasion we did. Little village blessed with two pubs, The Druid Inn & The Lion, the latter is currently only open Fri, Sat & Sun, & both sell some really good draught beers and IPA’s, so did need to sample them “occasionally”. Only ate at The Druid & have to say the food is absolutely great. Very friendly people both staff & patrons at both pubs which all helped to give the holiday the right buzz. Buses into Bakewell & Matlock which stop almost outside the cottage. We also caught the bus into Bakewell & from there another in to Buxton, gives you plenty of time to wander around & better than using the car as don’t need to worry about parking. We left some bus timetables behind. A visit to Crich Tram Village will pass a good deal of one day & The Great British Motor Museum, is either a morning or afternoon’s outing, and both have loads of parking. We did the cars in the morning and drove to Matlock Bath for the afternoon, which is also a great place on a Sunday to see all the motorcycles, be warned though, you won’t find any parking on Sunday in Matlock Bath.
