Built along the River Derwent and just 4 miles from the property, Matlock Bath is one of the most scenic villages which inspired poet laureate Sir John Betjeman to write a poem by the same name. There is also a cocktail bar, Indian and Italian restaurants, and a well-reputed fine dining restaurant. This really is a fabulous base from which to explore the Peak District National Park which is steeped in fascinating history and culture. Golf and fishing can also be found nearby. A 10-minute stroll leads you past a superb garden centre with restaurant, and in the village centre of Darley Dale here you’ll find a Co-op, petrol station, a bar and restaurant and two cafés, one overlooks a beautifully maintained Victorian park with a gorgeous duck pond.
