Guests consistently note the property is cleaned to a high standard, with several reviews specifically mentioning the cleanliness as a positive aspect. The attention to detail in this regard contributes to the overall experience.

The property's location in the Peak District is highly regarded, with guests enjoying the proximity to local shops, pubs, and scenic walks. The village of Winster is frequently described as lovely and relaxing, enhancing the stay.

Numerous reviews highlight the comfort of Winster Hall, mentioning the cosy fireplaces, comfortable beds, and spacious rooms. However, a few guests noted varying central heating and a desire for additional heating in the conservatory.

The facilities at Winster Hall are generally celebrated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the garden. Some minor issues were raised regarding maintenance, such as a leaky shower and the narrow front gates, but these do not seem to detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

About this property

A stunning Grade II listed country house, built by Francis Moore in 1628, set in its own beautiful grounds in the middle of the conservation village of Winster, in the Peak District National Park. Occupied by the Moore family in the 17th century, the Hall later became a Coaching House and Inn, and in the 19th century, Llewellyn Jewitt, a local antiquary, occupied the Hall and his gravestone can be found in the local church cemetery. Set over three floors, the Hall stands back from the main street behind the original stone-built gateway. As befits a country home of this grandeur, the building is full of rich history, character and charm, and provides ideal holiday accommodation for friends and family to get away from it all and enjoy this majestic and historic home. This superb Derbyshire holiday home boasts many original features including quoins, a cornice topped by a parapet, a beautiful balustrade, ornate ceilings and beautiful fireplaces. Providing spacious accommodation, the ground floor offers a spacious dining room with a cosy sitting area with a large wood burning stove and a beautiful hand-painted ceiling. The spacious, adjoining kitchen is well equipped and leads to a delightful conservatory area, great for dining in the summer, while a ground floor bedroom provides flexibility for the less able guests in the party. The wide, elegant staircase leads to the first floor, where there are two spacious bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms and one with a romantic four poster bed. The wonderful first floor sitting room is one of the real jewels in the crown; with feature windows on two sides providing a bright and spacious feel, as well as interesting views of the main high street, it provides a perfect space to relax and unwind, enjoy a family film or get out the board games. The top floor of this wonderful Derbyshire holiday home boasts a further four bedrooms, including a stunning master bedroom with king-size four poster bed. This wonderful Derbyshire home has the added benefit of a walled garden, formal gardens and a delightful courtyard; spend some time over breakfast in the courtyard area as you plan the day’s activities. The large summerhouse contains the various games on offer to add to your enjoyment of the garden. The conservation village of Winster boasts a well-stocked village shop and cafe as well as two excellent pubs, and is home to a 17th century Market House which is owned by the National Trust. Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth House are close by, as well as magnificent walks from the doorstep. Experience country living at its finest in this truly wonderful holiday home.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place with a charming 17th century market house at its centre and other imposing 18th century houses, nearly all three storeys, on its three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank.

It didn’t disappoint!! It’s a beautiful house in a very pretty village. It’s very spacious, well equipped, clean and very comfortable. It suited our group of 12 perfectly. The basket of ‘goodies’ was very welcome. There are lots of easy walks nearby, two local pubs and a village shop. We had a fabulous weekend and I’m sure we’ll all be back!!!

The property is easy to find, in a great location for local amenities, with walks available from the property itself also. We will definitely consider Winster Hall for the next family gathering!

Otherwise this was a great location for a special occasion family get together. The ability to host a birthday dinner party for twelve with matching crockery glasses and cutlery (with a caterer recommended by the owners) was exactly as we hoped for. The completely wall enclosed garden was a real benefit for letting our energetic puppy run free.
