Field Barn is a fabulous and classy barn conversion hidden away on the edge of the historic spa town of Matlock, overlooking the playing fields and backing onto beautiful open countryside. This really charming cottage provides very comfortable accommodation, with a cosy lounge, up-to-date kitchen, modern bathrooms and luxurious bedrooms we’re sure you’ll sleep peacefully in. There’s a tranquil patio area perfect for you to enjoy your morning cuppa, whilst planning your day of exploring.
Matlock is the friendly county town of Derbyshire and is a good base for public transport to explore the rest of the Peak District and Derbyshire. In the heart of Matlock is Hall Leys Park, with a superb boating lake and competitive sports courts available for the public to use. With an excellent selection of shops in the centre, you won't be disappointed.
If shopping isn’t your thing and you’re looking for something a little quieter, explore the nearby attractions such as Matlock Bath’s cable cars and little Switzerland gorge which are just down the valley. Or catch the steam train from Matlock Station and ride the Peak Railway. Of course, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just a short ride in the car and Carsington Water and the National Tramway Museum are in the surrounding hills. There really is something for everyone.

We had a really nice stay in the Barn. It was a perfect location for walks and sightseeing in the Peaks. The accommodation was very clean and warm and the beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Field barn is a cosy and extremely quietly situated cottage high above the small town of Matlock. Perfect for 2 to 4, expect a well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a sitting room that is comfortable and snug. No traffic noise, you can sleep with an open window. In the summer, you have plenty of space outside, and all year round you can start on short walks straight from the cottage. Going into town on foot is a bit of an expedition (very steep to come back up from the town), so if you’re looking for fitness, this can be easily obtained. Overall, we were very happy with the cottage, the equipment and furnishings and the host’s service. We did find the bed in the top bedroom a bit on the hard side, with the springs noticeable, despite a soft topper, but of course this is subjective.
