Guests say

Dormy Cottage in Foolow is highly praised for its cleanliness, cosy comfort, and superb location opposite The Bulls Head pub. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to great walks and local attractions in the Peak District. While the cottage's facilities generally meet expectations, some guests suggest improvements to the bathroom and note the lack of recycling options. The occasional mention of a welcome gift of milk and biscuits adds a thoughtful touch, though such gestures are not guaranteed.

Guests consistently commend the cottage for its exceptional cleanliness, often describing it as immaculate and very clean, which indicates a high standard of hygiene maintained at the property.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, with the cottage being situated in a picturesque village, opposite a welcoming pub, and within easy reach of walking trails and Peak District attractions.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable. However, some mention that the dining space is small and the bathroom can be cramped, slightly affecting the overall comfort score.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and reliable WiFi. Criticisms focus on the bathroom, specifically the lack of a proper shower setup, and the absence of recycling facilities, which suggests room for improvement.

While there are positive comments about the provision of milk and biscuits, these are not consistently mentioned across the reviews, and it is not clear if such gifts are a regular offering. Therefore, a score cannot be accurately provided.

Nice stay other than the shower (or lack of!). Don't understand why you would put in a brand new bathroom suite and only have a bath, with a shower head at waist height. Would only cost you a tiny bit of money to have someone move the shower head to head height and add a shower curtain rail. Just makes for an unpleasant experience sitting in the bath trying to rinse with a hand-held shower whilst not absolutely drenching the rest of the room. We wouldn't have booked this cottage had we realised in advance. Otherwise clean, spacious, well-equipped, nicely located opposite the pub. Would have benefitted from parking instructions when arriving in the dark.

We really enjoyed our week in Dormy Cottage which is a warm and cosy small cottage in an excellent location for walking, visiting and exploring. The pub across the road, The Bulls Head Inn is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed an excellent well priced meal there on the Saturday when we arrived and very unexpectedly found ourselves enjoying a very well conducted quiz later in the week! We had an excellent curry delivered by the curry house recommended by the owners with a really good quality vegan selection and very reasonable price (much cheaper than Wiltshire prices). Much to our delight the Bulls Head also sold really good fresh bread from a local bakery as well as fresh eggs and cakes. We found the instructions for the TV /Netflix and wifi easy to follow and all the equipment worked well. Our cocker spaniel loved her stay in the Dormy and was made very welcome on each of our visits to the Bulls Head. She needed a shower every day it being an Autumn visit with long walks along the Derwent and in the Dales. She was able to jump in and out of the bath easily but we do agree with others who have commented that a walk in shower would be a great improvement were the property owners able to include this in future plans. Beds were very comfortable and good fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer as well as a coffee press which we happily used and a (huge!) coffee machine which we didn’t use. Good quality wooden floors and flagstones were ideal for three walkers and a dog returning each day. We hope to make a further booking soon for a return visit to enable us to explore more of this beautiful and special area.
