About this property

This beautifully-restored Grade 2 listed cottage, with original cottage beams, shutters and an ornamental fireplace in the top bedroom is set on the main village road in Cromford. Time and care has been taken to make sure that a beautiful retreat has been created for friends and families. You enter the cottage directly into the sitting room, full of character with shutters, beams and a gas woodburner-effect stove housed in an inglenook fireplace. The sitting room has a dining area and also leads through into a small but well-equipped kitchen. Head up the cottage stairs and you will find a pretty single bedroom and shower room on the first floor, and up another flight, the stairs open into a beautiful double bedroom, with wooden floors, an ornamental fireplace and a lovely window seat where you can enjoy wonderful views over the village to the hills beyond. The tiered patio garden at the back of the cottage is also accessed from the sitting room, with three separate seating areas including a small courtyard space at ground level, with 34 steps leading up to a patio where you can really enjoy the view! Close by is the High Peak Trail and associated cycle routes within 2 miles, plus the centre of Cromford is just a two-minute walk away. This popular village has a fine selection of shops and pubs and just a mile away, Matlock Bath has a huge selection of cafes and ice cream parlours. It is also the starting point for the cable car that takes you to the Heights of Abraham. The old mill town of Matlock has a superb range of craft shops, and independent stores and bars, whilst the magnificent Chatsworth Estate is just 10 miles away. This cottage in historical Cromford really is a fabulous base for a holiday exploring the Peak District all through the year.

Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs, the village of Cromford lies just 1 mile from the vibrant spa town of Matlock Bath, 3 miles from Matlock. Famous for its connections with the cotton trade, Cromford is often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, today the village offers a selection of pubs and shops, as well as Arkwright’s Cromford Mill, a world heritage site.
