About this property

This outstanding, semi-detached stone-built cottage is in the picturesque village of Baslow. It is luxuriously appointed throughout, creating a lovely, romantic retreat for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life and discover the tranquil and stunning Derbyshire Dales countryside. This boutique style cottage boasts a king-size bedroom which has been tastefully decorated with sumptuous bedding and mood lighting. The contemporary bathroom, with black and white designer floor tiles, also features a lagoon freestanding bath for a relaxing soak after an active day out, or for a more invigorating pick me up, step into the large walk-in shower. Enter into the welcoming open plan living area with a designer kitchen providing everything that you will need for some delicious home cooking. The cosy sitting room with comfortable sofas and a log effect fire makes a lovely place to chill out in the evening. The large stone vaulted cellar utility room provides extra space for drying wet clothes and outdoor wear. Outside and to the front is a pretty country garden with a seating area, whilst to the rear is a charming stone flagged courtyard, which is a fabulous spot for some alfresco dining. Baslow is a busy little village situated in the delightful Derwent Valley. With its pretty thatched cottages, quaint shops and fine restaurants, this is a beautiful village in lovely surroundings. The parklands of the Chatsworth estate are approached from the village over a 17th century Packhorse Bridge. Beautiful walks can be enjoyed from the doorstep and Bakewell, the proclaimed capital of the Peak District, is close by with regular Farmers’ Markets for all to enjoy. With Alton Towers just a short drive away, this cottage makes the perfect holiday retreat at any time of the year.

The picturesque village of Baslow is situated at the North end of Chatsworth House and the village has some unusual and striking features, not least, a river bridge that has three arches and is guarded by a toll house with diminutive measurements of only three and a half feet high. The village has a range of shops, restaurants and pubs and is only five miles from Bakewell, which has a further range of amenities and attractions.

The cottage was very well equipped with a very comfy bed, excellent shower and bath. The open plan living / kitchen area had a really relaxing feel and everything we needed. Tracey, the owner provided a comprehensive email guide to places to visit and eat and a very helpful phone call check in when we arrived. It is a semi detached cottage and we were aware of the neighbour on occasions. There are some good places to eat and drink in the village all within a ten minute walk from the cottage.
