The kitchen houses a host of amenities and furniture, with a skylight overhead to create a light and airy quality as you cook up a storm. For a quiet spot to read, choose the sunroom, from which you can access the patio garden, featuring space where you can store bikes, and a truly tranquil spot for a tipple in the sunshine as you reflect on the day. Choose between a refreshing shower or a warm soak in the bathtub before settling down into one of the two well-presented bedrooms, with the option of a super-king-size with built-in wardrobes, and a twin room. The property is within walking distance of the lovely town centre of Bakewell, where you will find a selection of cafes, pubs, tasty eateries and independent shops to browse at your leisure. An attractive little market town retaining a delightful rural atmosphere and offering a good selection of shops, restaurants, and pubs, as well as local farmers markets. There is an old 17th- century market hall in the town centre and a modern leisure centre with swimming pool nearby. Bakewell is situated within the Peak District National Park and is ideally placed for exploring this beautiful region. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, and Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, is only a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. The cottage is in a really quiet part of Bakewell away from the hustle and bustle. It was really clean, comfortable, and very well equipped. The only niggle was the poor WiFi signal which meant the smart tv kept going off which wasn't much fun when trying to watch a film. We would happily stay again.

Because of a medical issue we were limited to a degree and we spent more time in the cottage than we had planned but still had a really good relaxing break. The location did enable us to enjoy the surrounding area . We would love to return in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending the property to friends and family. Many thanks.

We immediately reported it to the provided email but by Monday (when we left) the bedding had still not been replaced. The property also has a very slow, basic and unreliable wifi (oscillating between 0, 1 and 8mgbs) that struggles to provide a continuous signal to the Smart TV. And as there is no working TV or satellite ariel at the property, when the Wifi trips or slows ,3mgbs, then there is no TV. At the least a backup DVD player would have helped whilst the owners fix the no satellite and slow wifi issues. This was especially disappointing considering how prominently the TV area features in the pictures on Sykes website. Very surprised also that this known issue isn't mentioned in the advertising. Owners/Sykes did send an email just before our arrival but it was sufficiently vague that we did not cancel the booking (which we would have had we known)
