About this property

Nestled in the rural hamlet of Gatton near Winster in the heart of the Peak District National Park, is this lovely, stone-fronted cottage, Dale End Farm Cottage. Enjoying over 2 acres of open fields, this cottage is an idyllic base for avid walkers, so bring along your family and friends for a countryside escape. Step inside to discover the open plan set up, where you can snuggle up besides the flickering woodburning stove as the TV does the entertaining. Rustle up heart-warming meals in the kitchen area with an oven and hob to assist you and when dinner is ready, settle down at the dining table to tuck-in. Spend summer evenings on your own private patio, where you can savour a glass of wine and admire the peaceful setting. As the air grows cool, head inside and climb upstairs and rinse the day away in the sleek shower room where a fluffy towel awaits on a heated towel rail. When sleep calls, you can take your pick between a lovely king-size bedroom and a twin, so why not snuggle up in bed with a hot chocolate? After a steaming cup of coffee on your patio garden, lace up your walking boots and explore the surrounding countryside, with a plethora of trails to choose from. A short stroll will lead you to a traditional pub, Duke of York Inn, for those who fancy a crisp pint or for a greater selection, why not venture to the quaint town of Bakewell? The market town of Bakewell is the birthplace of the Bakewell Tart so be sure to sample a slice before leaving and on the fringe of the town you will discover the stately home of Chatsworth House, where Pride and Prejudice was filmed! Visit the town of Matlock, scattered with independent cafes and specialty stores, as well as a vintage steam train, where you can soak in the Derbyshire landscape. For a special escape to the Peak District, choose Dale End Farm Cottage.

Winster, a conservation village in the Peak District National Park's White Peak section, is a very lovely place with a charming 17th century market house at its heart and numerous majestic 17th and 18th century residences, several of which are three storeys high. Main Street, East Bank, and West Bank are connected by alleyways known as 'ginnels,' which are well worth investigating. The Morris dancers, the annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race, the Wakes events in June, and the Secret Gardens of Winster event in July are all well-known in Winster. A well-stocked, community-owned general store with a Post Office is located within the town.

Set lovely within the property, it’s quiet but also a lovely environment for our kids to play in the garden. My youngest adored seeing the animals and my eldest got to play football outside. The rooms were comfortable, the fleece blankets in the lounge welcomed for watching a movie. Arrived to milk and cookies and we ordered a food delivery which was on time and so convenient after a long drive. Beautiful surroundings and a great location about 20 minutes from everywhere. We had a lovely stay. Thank you

Although it is in a farmyard with other properties, it is tucked away so feels private too, but with help on hand if needed. If you love walking, this is ideal as you can walk from the house or drive a short distance for other great walks. There is also lots to see nearby, such as Haddon Hall, and country pubs galore. If you love animals the property has free ranging chickens, and alpacas and horses in the fields plus sheep and cows everywhere you go. We really appreciated the EV charger being part of the facilities which was a reason we chose it. We had a lovely week there and would happily rebook it.
