About this property

Located centrally within Ashbourne Marketplace, a bustling town in Derbyshire is 14C Market Place, a wonderful, three-storey apartment. Just paces away from a hub of eateries and shops, whilst well-positioned to explore the Peak District National Park, the apartment makes the ideal base for a family break, looking to discover the delights of this beautiful region. Park up in a nearby car park before travelling on foot to the apartment, entering the handy boot room, where you can store your coats, shoes and even keep on top of your laundry throughout your stay. Climb the stairs up to the first floor and make your way to the well-equipped kitchen, where you can rustle up delicious meals, before gathering in the living/dining room. Be welcomed into this spacious area, complete with a dining table for six, plush seating, an electric fire, and a TV for entertainment, where you can unwind, socialise and plan your coming days. As the night unfolds, catch some rest in one of the three well-appointed bedrooms, starting with a double on the first floor; on the second floor you'll locate a further double, and a super-king-size (zip/link) for convenience. Awaken to a refreshing shower in the sleek shower room, before exploring the town and its amenities; stock up on the essentials at one of the many local shops, and enjoy a stroll through Ashbourne Park, whilst dining out will be a pleasure at the likes of The George & Dragon, Lamplight Restaurant, and Café Impromptu. Head into the national park to discover the nature-filled grounds of Ilam Park, or tour the magnificent structures of Reynards Cave, ahead of reaching Matlock, its stunning Lumsdale Waterfall, the Peak District Mining Museum, and Matlock Bath Aquarium. The family favourite of Alton Towers is reachable by car, recommended for a fun-filled day out, or for further charm and culture, tour Chatsworth with its characterful stately home and gardens. Experience all of this at 14C Market Place.

Ashbourne, which is located at the southernmost point of the Peak District, is the epitome of an English market town, complete with a marketplace with stalls, an odd street layout, winding cobblestone lanes, coaching inns, and almshouses. The town was a posh social hub during its heyday in the 18th century, and many lovely Georgian structures from this period still stand today. The town is still known as something of a sanctuary for antique hunters today and still has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and inns, but don't expect a deal! The Dove and Manifold Valleys are nearby for those who prefer more outdoor activities, while Alton Towers, with its thrilling collection of thrills and attractions, is only a short drive away for thrill seekers.

Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Had initial trouble finding it - useful info is that it is between the two red telephone boxes.

Issues arose after leaving when the owner accused us of damaging the kitchen worktop with a knife. This was completely untrue. The owner was extremely rude when contacted to dispute and we were charged £395 to repair, we felt held to ransom. We have received 5 star reviews from all of the properties we have stayed in with the exception of this one. Sykes were very helpful when trying to find a resolution and arranged an alternative without charge when a repeat booking was made in error. I would not recommend staying here due to the issues we have had.

The owner Steve is helpful and accommodating, an excellent host. We have rebooked the property for a number of weeks while working in the area and would highly recommend. We would not hesitate to return, a lovely property with all the facilities anybody would need.
