About this property

This stone cottage provides exceptional accommodation in which to relax and enjoy the solitude and exhilarating sense of freedom found in The College Valley.

Hethpool Mill is the ultimate retreat, tucked away in the College Valley, this traditional stone built cottage offers outstanding holiday accommodation for 6 people.

The spacious beamed sitting room has a wood burning stove, sofas and armchairs and French doors onto the garden. The farmhouse style kitchen has plenty of storage and worktop area and a contemporary stainless steel range style cooker, the dining area is to one end of the kitchen, again light and spacious with a lovely farmhouse table and chairs with plenty of seating for everyone. The property doesn’t have any TV reception but there’s a DVD and video, CD radio and MP3 dock to keep you entertained. The bedrooms are very comfortable, spacious and welcoming, traditionally furnished cottage style beds and chests of drawers.

The Mill has an enclosed garden - perfect for dogs and children. There’s storage for bikes too, this is an excellent spot for cycling, the College Valley is a private estate - just 10 cars are able to buy permits to use the private road system each day so traffic is unlikely to be a problem.

This really is a fabulous property and the perfect choice if you’re looking to escape the daily grind and discover an area packed with wildlife, flora and fauna. If you’re planning on taking your walking boots, you won’t be disappointed… think about an unspoilt and natural landscape with spectacular scenery and you’ll be on the right track. There are four challenging circular Hillfort Trails in the College Valley - Hethas Hike, Ring Chesters Round, Four Forts Foray and the River and Ramparts Ramble, you could of course just wander down to the stream.

The Mill stands at the foot of the Cheviot Massif in the National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This is a designated Dark Sky Park where the only night light is from the moon and stars. Wildlife is excellent too, look out for wild goats, deer, peregrine, red grouse, ring ouzel, buzzards, ravens, kestrels and red squirrel. Fishing, golfing, riding available nearby. Visit historic houses, gardens, churches and castles or head off to the coast - a short drive away and stroll along the beautiful beaches.

The Mill can be booked with Coldburn Cottage, Dunsdale House and The School House. It is possible to book the whole Valley for events.
