The Yorkshire Dales National Park is easily reached as are the popular market towns of Richmond and Ripon, the Northern Dales town of Reeth, the city of Durham, and even the Lake District. Stainton is a small rural village set in lovely countryside, in Teesdale, County Durham. This village is nothing more than a scattering of traditional cottages; for more amenities visitors to Snainton need venture no further than the market town of Barnard Castle, just a mile down the road. Barnard Castle has the ruins of its namesake castle still in situ by the river, and a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants set down the towns narrow cobbled streets and alleyways. Great walking, impressive waterfalls, flowing rivers and lovely Dales countryside is all around this charming village.
