Inside, the open-plan living area is a great space to relax and unwind, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, a dedicated dining area, and a plush sitting area with a gas fire to light on cooler evenings; if the weather allows, spend the evening in the enclosed rear garden with your furry companions, dotted with pretty blooms. Once you’re ready for some rest, select between a king-size bedroom, and a twin, both serviced by a handy shower room. In the village itself, guests can enjoy a range of activities and events throughout the year, including the scarecrow competition and Christmas light switch on, where all local villages switch on their lights on the same weekend, along with an annual band contest, and a small cinema. Within walking distance, guests can also enjoy sampling local menus and evening tipples from a selection of pubs, including the Printer Arms, the Junction Inn, the Rams head, which also has a farm shop attached selling local produce/wine and spirits, and the Oddfellows social club. The picturesque village of Delph has barely changed from its 19th century hey-day, when it’s small mills were at the heart of a thriving community, and today remains an ideal start for walks up the Castleshaw Valley to the Roman Fort, one of a series built on the Roman military road from Chester to York. Delph boasts several village festivals including a charity beer walk and brass band contest! Nearby, the largest of the Saddleworth villages, Uppermill is situated in the valley below Saddleworth Church and is dominated by an impressive viaduct. The architecture of this attractive village is highlighted in the Local Interest Trail leaflets available from the Tourist Information Centre. Saddleworth Museum highlights the history of the area from Roman times and also has an art gallery with changing exhibitions. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the village and the canal boat trips and boat traffic attract many visitors. Other attractions include Brownhills Countryside Centre, numerous craft shops, art galleries, gift shops, restaurants, public houses and tea shops.
