About this Hostel

Situated within a former bowler hat factory in Manchester's Northern Quarter, The original Hatters Hostel occupies a beautiful Victorian building set just a short walk from Manchester Piccadilly. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops right on the doorstep and our lively backpackers offers quality city centre accommodation combined with award winning customer service.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

We offer dorm accommodation with four, six, eight, ten and eighteen beds along with a range of private rooms. Fresh bed linen is provided and there is secure key card access for your security. Please note that non of our rooms have ensuite facilities and there are single sex showers and toilets on each floor.

Breakfast

A delicious continental breakfast is included in our room rates and this is served between 7.30am and 10am each day.

We can offer discounted rates of £10 for twenty four hours parking at the nearby multi-storey car park on Tariff Street. Please bring your ticket to reception. Guests can also find additional street parking nearby. 

Availability

Prices start from £12 per person per night in a shared dorm with daily and seasonal variations applicable. We provide bed linen for your stay and guests can hire towels from reception. Check in time is after 2pm and please vacate by 11am on your departure day. Please note that valid photo ID will be required at check in.

Groups of seven to fourteen people are welcome but the full balance of your stay must be paid seven days prior to your arrival. For groups of 15 people or more, a 15% (non refundable) deposit applies and the balance is due four weeks prior to arrival.

Guests must be aged over 18 unless they are accompanied by an adult. Guests under 18 are unable to stay in dorms with guests outside of their group.

Local attractions to visit include John Rylands Library,  Salford Quays, the Etihad and Old Trafford Stadiums, National Football Museum, The Printworks and the Arndale Shopping Centre.

Directions

From Piccadilly Station, walk down the station approach onto Piccadilly. Take a right on to Newton Street. Hatters is situated 50 metres on the right at number 50 on the corner of Hilton and Newton Street. 

From Manchester Coach Station turn right at Portland Street. Newton Street is a continuation of Portland Street. The Hatters hostel is 50 metres on the right at number 50 on the corner of Hilton and Newton Street.

From Manchester Airport you can catch a train which takes approximately 20 minutes to Piccadilly Station. Alternatively there is now a 24 hour bus service which runs to/from Manchester Airport.
