At the foot of Pendle Hill, Downham is in the Forest of Bowland aonb. The village is a base with a gastro pub, a tearoom, a seasonal ice cream shop and a village green. Nearby is Clitheroe with attractions including the castle and museum, Bowland Brewery and galleries.

Agree with previous reviewer about watching the beautiful sunsets over the Ribble Valley. We would be happy to come back and so would our dog.

We would happily return. Points to be aware of which did not detract from our holiday but are good to be aware of. There is one bathroom with an old style electric shower so if there are five of you then you will need to take turns. The third bedroom is small and has a shorter bed than usual, my teenage daughter was entirely fine with this and fitted the bed - but we had warned her in advance. You canât use the washing machine at the same time as the kettle as it seems to trip the electric, but once we had worked this out it was fine. Lovely views of Pendle Hill and the valley really lifted our spirits on the morning after we arrived in a thunderstorm. Happy to return.
