Box Tree Escapes in Lancaster offers a delightful stay with its spacious, well-equipped lodges and serene location. Guests have praised the comfortable beds, the hot tub, and the property's suitability for those with mobility issues. The owner, Ian, is frequently mentioned for his helpfulness and warm welcome. While there have been minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found the property clean and well-maintained, though a few noted minor issues with cleanliness such as bins not being cleaned and some cutlery and crockery not being spotless. These appear to be isolated incidents, with the majority of reviews reflecting a high standard of cleanliness.

The location is frequently described as peaceful and serene, ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. Its proximity to both coast and dales, as well as central locations like Kirby Lonsdale, has been appreciated by guests. The rural setting and country views are highlights, contributing to a relaxing atmosphere.

Guests have consistently noted the comfort of the lodges, particularly highlighting the comfortable beds and spaciousness suitable for large groups. The property's single-level layout is also beneficial for guests with mobility issues, adding to the overall comfort of the stay.

The facilities, including fast Wi-Fi, a hot tub, and a well-equipped kitchen, are generally praised. However, some guests mentioned maintenance issues such as a lack of hot water on the last day, broken bed slats, and bent dining chair legs. While these issues are not widespread, they do impact the score.

Ian's thoughtfulness is a recurring theme, with mentions of a welcome hamper and his readiness to assist guests. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The lodge is looking a little tired and a few things are looking worn. The double bed slats were broken which fell apart on first night. We fixed it ourselves. A couple of the dining chair legs were bent and didn’t feel safe to use. The bulbs were missing from bedside lamps and we moved them round as needed them for children’s rooms. There was no hoover and no shovel for the brush so hard to keep on top of cleanliness. The highlight was the hot tub which we made great use of and which made the weekend.

The location is very peaceful and quite isolated, but with several small villages within a few miles. Unfortunately, there was a significant issue with a drainage/sewer problem causing a terrible smell and rendering the main bathroom and one bedroom unusable. The owner tried to help and booked a plumber but this was for after we vacated.

One or two little things that need to be sorted maintenance wise, which Ian the owner, said he'd rectify that day. Being all on one level helped as we had two guests with mobility issues. Good facilities and in a good location for exp!oring both coast and dales. Weather was kind to us so having the hot tub was a bonus.
