Ochiltree is one of the oldest villages in Ayrshire, nestling in Ayrshire's glorious hills and farmland. With relics found that indicate Stone and Bronze Age settlers, the area is most famous as the home of Robert Burns, who lived with his wife in the nearby village of Mauchline and farmed in the area for a number of years. Their house is now a museum, which forms part of the Burns trail. Ideally situated for exploring the stunning scenery of Ayrshire and the Isle of Arran, the area boasts the stunning links courses of Royal Troon and Turnberry, both well worth a visit, as is the historic seaside resort of Ayr, which offers excellent shops, bars, restaurants and sandy beaches. Wonder at the spectacular 18th century Culzean Castle, in its picturesque cliff-top setting or enjoy the 600 acre country park complete with deer park and swan pond. A lovely part of Scotland, with something to suit all tastes.
