About this property

Tucked away on the outskirts of Kirkby Lonsdale, a charming town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park lies the lovely, two-bedroom holiday home of Ash Meadows. Boasting off-road parking for two cars, a collection of well-presented interiors, and a superb location surrounded by national parks and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this wonderful retreat welcomes a family or group of four friends sharing to enjoy a relaxing, self-catered escape in Cumbria. Park up, unpack, and make yourself comfortable in your new lodgings, where a well-appointed, open-plan living space featuring a fully-equipped kitchen invites you and your loved ones to prepare delicious, home-cooked meals that can be savoured around the dining table. A plush sitting area complete with a Smart TV makes for an idyllic spot to unwind in the evenings, whilst an outdoor patio with seating accommodates alfresco dining on sunny days. When sleep calls, be sure to refresh with a rejuvenating shower or an indulgent bath before you head for a well-earned rest in either a quaint, mezzanine-style king bed or a tastefully-laid out, ground-floor twin, both accompanied by their own Smart TVs. If you fancy exploring your local area, jump in the car and head west into Kirkby Lonsdale, where you can stock up on essentials at the convenience store or the Booths Supermarket on your way to tucking into a hearty pub lunch at The Snooty Fox or The Orange Tree. Whilst in town, you can also stop by the historic Radical Steps, the scenic point of Devil's Bridge, as well as the calming stretch of the River Lune. For a full day out, head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and discover iconic natural landmarks such as Gastack Beck Waterfall, Middle Falls, Ingleborough Cave, and Malham Cove. All of this and so much more is yours to enjoy when you book Ash Meadows.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".

Range of kitchen equipment provided was excellent. Surrounding area provided opportunities for enjoyable days out. The Orange Tree in Kirkby Lonsdale provided good quality ‘pub grub’ at reasonable cost.
