Guests say

Delmonte is a spacious cottage with stunning views and a hot tub, ideal for stargazing and relaxation. Its proximity to Penrith and local amenities, including a village shop and pub, makes it a convenient base for exploring the North Lakes and surrounding areas. Guests have enjoyed the peaceful setting and the comfort provided, making it a popular choice for both families and groups of friends.

Several reviews mention cleanliness issues, including unclean kitchenware, stained towels, and general dust and dirt. However, some guests found the property clean and tidy, indicating inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is highly praised for its spectacular views, proximity to Penrith, and ease of access to local attractions and the North Lakes. The nearby train station is a bonus, although the approach road is steep and busy.

Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage spacious. However, there were some concerns about broken furniture and the condition of the windows, which affected the overall comfort level.

The hot tub is a highlight, but there are several mentions of maintenance issues, such as broken appliances and furniture. The garden and kitchen equipment also received criticism, suggesting a need for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

There is no mention of gifts or extra touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owner. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

We’ve been here twice now. Cottage is fairly basic but the price reflects that. The main attractions are the hot tub, the views and the location. If the skies are clear it’s dark enough for stargazing. Close enough to Penrith for supermarket deliveries. There’s a little shop in the village for essentials. Note if travelling by train: while the cottage is only 300 metres from the station this is on a very steep busy road with no pavements!

A group of four adults and three children, we had a really lovely weekend, had an evening meal at the local pub which was a 5 minute walk. Enjoyed the hot tub, property was clean and tidy, thank you, would definitely recommend

Could this place be spectacular? Yes. Is it? Sadly, no. Cleaning wasn’t up to standard (granted, this is very individual). Bedding was clean & beds were comfortable. Mirrors had cracks. Floors not great, carpets have stains. Kitchen table had a table cloth that was stained & dirty, plus a broken chair- which was dangerous, it gave when my 2 year old sat on it, resulting in me catching him & thinking I had broken my hand as the chair fell on it, and i couldn’t use the hand for 3 days. Kettle was dodgy in the sense of the on lever was hanging off, utensils all missing their points, fridge/freezer unclean inside & out. Broken bin lid. Oven & microwave not my level of clean but doable & worked well. Light didn’t work in the hall. One bedside lamp wasn’t working, lampshades all lopsided (broken)- would take a couple of pounds to replace. Windows very old, frames/sills would benefit from even a lick of paint to cover the dark spots which looked like mold. Good size garden but full of nettles & discarded chicken wire, lots of flies and wasps due to being so close to the cows, hot tub wasn’t properly clean but worked fine. No information on recycling/bin day. You get the picture. The view was spectacular, parking good, and very well placed for visiting amazing sites. It is such a shame as this place could be amazing, even a decent clean would make all the difference. We made the best of it- we were there for two weeks so had no option, but we have definitely stayed in better places for no extra cost.
