This converted and extended farm building employs natural, local materials for appealing character and contemporary comfort - it’s an ideal base for a peaceful getaway. Kick off your boots in the entrance lobby, where there are armchairs if you feel like stopping to gaze at the views. The open-plan living space has a further choice of seating and, for those quiet times by the fire, a Smart TV. The bespoke kitchen/diner is a pleasure to use, and has robust timber dining table for long, lingering meals. A slate-tiled shower room is situated off the entrance hall, with a second one on the first floor. Both have luxurious, rainfall-style showers. The two king-size bedrooms are also on the first floor, with ample storage, stylish furnishings and comfortable mattresses. The garden is visited by all kinds of wildlife - simply open the French doors onto the patio and see what you can spot. There’s furniture here for al fresco dining, too.

For outdoor adventures you’re just 5 miles from the Lake District National Park and 15 miles from the Northern Pennines. In the lovely town of Penrith, just 8 miles away, you’ll find a ruined castle and a Grade I-listed church, as well as a choice of shops and places to eat and drink. Dalemain, 10 miles, is a historic mansion surrounded by beautiful gardens, while the Roman fort at Birdoswald is only 24 miles.
