We found Needlehouse to be a cleverly renovated old farmhouse, set in a really beautiful remote fold in the Yorkshire Dales, with farm and moor land all around. There were stunning walks, straight out of the house, both across moorland and over the stream into woodland; and in the wider neighbourhood there are a great number and variety of walks from steep climbs to fairly gentle walks through fields and along disused railway lines. Sheep are everywhere. The house has a beautiful garden, and inside is comfortable and cosy, with a modernised kitchen to cook and gather in.There are plenty of pubs and places to eat in the area, but you need to drive a bit. It would be hard work without transport. The owners are extremely responsive and helpful, and there is plenty of interesting information provided. Overall, it would be hard to find a nicer retreat into a natural rather isolated and timeless world, and a world formed by farming practices over generations.

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful house, exactly as shown in the photos. It’s in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by sheep and wildlife – the perfect place to disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. Whether you’re into exploring the countryside, going for long walks, or just spotting animals, this location is ideal. The house itself is spacious, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with lovely bedrooms and well-equipped kitchen. I’d love to come back!
