Guests say

This summary has been generated using feedback from guests who have stayed at this property

Moresdale Bank Cottage is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its beautiful location, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. The property offers a peaceful break with stunning views and is appreciated for its cleanliness and the owners' hospitality. Some guests noted the unique layout and the single-track access, adding character to the rural experience.

Cleanliness

Most guests found the cottage to be very clean and tidy, with only one review mentioning an issue with cleanliness, including cobwebs and dust. This seems to be an isolated incident, as the majority of feedback is positive regarding the property's cleanliness.

Location

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, beautiful surroundings, and proximity to the Lake District. The single-track roads leading to the cottage are mentioned, which some guests found challenging but are typical for the rural setting.

Comfort

The cottage is generally regarded as comfortable, with comfortable beds and furnishings. However, a few guests mentioned issues with the softness of the couches and the layout being potentially problematic for families with young children.

Facilities

Facilities are well-regarded with the cottage being well-equipped for a self-catering holiday. Some guests suggested improvements such as updating the inventory and the inconvenience of the freezer's location. The presence of flies and cobwebs in one review suggests occasional maintenance oversights.

Thoughtfulness

Guests frequently mentioned the thoughtfulness of the owners, including gestures like welcome gifts. While these gifts are warmly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, though delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Kendal 5 miles. A delightful detached, stone-built cottage located on the Lakeland Fells, in the tiny hamlet of Lambrigg, just five miles from Kendal. Nestling within the original home farm of Moresdale Hall Estate, this Kendal cottage was once a farmworker's cottage and stable buildings and sits within eight acres of the owners' grounds. This Kendal cottage has an upside down accommodation layout, with the living area on the first floor featuring a sitting room with a warm and cosy woodburning stove, a farmhouse-style kitchen with dining area, and an adjoining main bedroom with en-suite and patio doors, which provide access to the lawned garden and views of the Howgill Fells. The ground floor consists of an entrance hall, two further bedrooms and a bathroom. Full of character and charm throughout, the comfy accommodation, exposed stone walls and original roof beams all go together to provide guests with an ideal holiday home. The woodland area surrounding this Kendal cottage supports a wide variety of birds, animals and plants, including deer and badgers. There are many walks in the area and a favourite is the ascent of Lambrigg Fell via Moresdale Tarn to a height of just over 1000 feet above sea level, which offers panoramic views of the Lake District Mountains, the Pennines and Morecambe Bay. The Dalesway long distance footpath runs through the grounds and this can be followed in either direction to the Lune Valley or towards the terminus at Windermere. For those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy a true Lakeland holiday, then this Kendal cottage is the one for you.

Kendal is set on the banks of the River Kent offering old cobbled lanes and byways, ruins of a 12th Century castle, The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, shops and pubs. Close by is Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, plus there are walking routes in the area.
