About this property

Bay Tree Lodge is a refurbished lodge situated in a quiet park, just under a mile from the quaint medieval priory village of Cartmel. It is just six miles from the southerly tip of Lake Windemere in the beautiful Lake District, and with easy access to the whole of the south and west Lakes, where you can explore the majestic fells, ancient woodlands and serene lakes.

This contemporary property is a wonderful choice for families, friends or couples looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in this beautiful quiet corner of Cumbria.

The open-plan living space is the social hub of the lodge, equipped with a well-appointed kitchen and dining area. Unwind on the sofa by the woodburning stove, complimented by a smart TV with Freeview and Netflix. You can also relax on the sheltered sun decks, south and west-facing, surrounded by a private garden. The short walk to Cartmel enables you to enjoy the dog-friendly pubs with great food, real ales, and Live Music on the weekends. The village also boasts two Michelin star restaurants under the famous chef, Simon Rogan, and a third near by (Heft) in the village of High Newton. The rural horse racing course adds another dimension, with nine race meetings a year. The bustling towns of the Lake District; Kendal, Bowness on Windermere, Ambleside and Coniston are all within easy reach, and rich in tourist attractions. Expect all this and more at Bay Tree Lodge.

The historic, South Lakeland village of Cartmel is renowned as the prettiest village in the Lake District. The Priory Church, one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in the north of England, remains the heart of the community with its gatehouse forming the entrance to the village. The village features pretty streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, a charming gift shop, welcoming, traditional pubs serving real ale, the nationally acclaimed, Michelin Star awarded L'Enclume restaurant, and the Cartmel Village shop, which sells the famous sticky toffee pudding. Take advantage of excellent walking opportunities amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside, visit Cartmel Racecourse, Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum and Holker Hall with its spectacular gardens, all of which are close by. The quiet seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, with its Edwardian buildings and mountain backdrop, is a mere 2 miles away, whilst Windermere, with its panoramic views over England's longest lake, is within a thirty minute drive. A superb holiday destination, at any time of year.

Bay Tree Lodge spacious and had everything we needed. Highly recommended - will be back

The site is very quiet and secluded. We took our 5 month old Labrador on his first holiday and he loved it.There were 4 adults for the first two night and it was a bit of a squeeze in the living space. Two enclosed decking areas with furniture if the weather allows. Large garden which isn’t enclosed. Very relaxing holiday and would go again.

A perfect setting with everything you could need. The ideal location for sightseeing or as a relaxing, quiet and peaceful haven for those rainy days that make the Lake District so beautiful and green! We would love to go back, but according to the Sykes website the lodge is unavailable until 2026!
