Jen
The location is lovely. Coming from Devon, I really enjoy a bit of farm life, and I thought the setting was charming. Being surrounded by the cows, sheep and horses was beautiful and very peaceful.I chose the property as a base for exploring the Lakes, Dales and Pennines. Unfortunately, I became unwell on the second day, so I didn't get to explore as planned. However, the location would be great for anyone wanting to explore the surrounding areas. The property itself is very quaint. The open-plan living space is lovely, the kitchen was well equipped, and parking at the bottom of the stairs was very useful when arriving with luggage. Everything was clean and well presented. Although I didn't drink it the bottle of wine left in the fridge was also a lovely touch, thank you.I particularly enjoyed having a bath. The bedroom is nicely designed too, although unfortunately I didn't find the bed particularly comfortable as it was extremely creaky and woke me whenever I moved. The main disappointment for me was the lack of Wi-Fi. I booked before the more recent reviews mentioning this, so hadn't realised there was no Wi-Fi. Ordinarily this wouldn't have been a major issue, but there is also very little mobile signal due to the rural location. I had planned to do some work and life admin in the evenings, so unfortunately wasn't able to do this.Given how rural the property is, I think it would also be helpful to have some basic information available, such as the host's contact details, what to do if there is a problem, emergency information, and perhaps a little information about the farm and property. A landline would also be a useful addition given the limited mobile signal. There were no towels provided. I understood from the listing that there was a charge for towels, but wasn't sure where I was supposed to collect them from. Clear information about this in the property would be helpful.I was also disappointed that there wasn't a washing machine, as the listing indicated that there was one.The balcony is very cute, and the solar lights are a lovely touch. Just be aware that the decking becomes very slippery when wet.
