Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches from the owner, Val, and the cottage's peaceful atmosphere. While parking may be tight for larger vehicles, the property's character and convenience make it a beloved choice for a relaxing holiday.

The cottage's location is celebrated for its proximity to the town centre, local shops, pubs, and beautiful walks, making it an ideal base for exploring Alston and the surrounding countryside.
Reviewers frequently mention the comfortable furnishings, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen, suggesting a high level of comfort for guests during their stay.
The property is described as tastefully decorated and well equipped, with all necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. However, the shared garden and parking challenges for larger cars slightly affect the score.
Many reviews highlight the owner's thoughtfulness, mentioning welcome gifts such as cakes and milk. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such extras, though delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.
A charming and comfortably-furnished 400-year old terraced stone cottage, just a short walk from the centre of Alston, the highest market town in England, and the centre of five historic Pennine routes. The cottage is traditional and welcoming, with exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace and a warming woodburner-effect gas stove, and is ideal for a romantic break. Alston retains its traditional character, including a selection of pubs with open fires and real ales just a short walk from the cottage. There are walks onto the moors from the cottage, and the Pennine Way passes through the town, which is also on the C2C Cycle Route. With plenty of places to visit within an hour by car, including Hadrian's Wall, Beamish Open Air Museum, Durham Cathedral and the Lake District, this is a superb Alston cottage for a relaxing break.
Surrounded by a unique landscape of moorland, hills, rivers and waterfalls, Alston is set in the North Pennines and is England's highest market town. This intriguing settlement boasts charming cobbled streets and was the filming location for ITV's productions of Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist. Long associated with poets, writers and artists, the wonderful location of Alston still serves as an inspiration to the craftspeople that live and work there. There is a wide range of unusual, independent shops in the town, including quality crafts and galleries. Visitors can also take a ride on one of the lovingly restored steam and diesel engines that run through the beautiful scenery of the South Tyne valley, whilst Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre makes a great family day out with its interactive exhibitions.
