About this property

A delightful mid-terrace dwelling, Lavender Cottage, is located on the banks of the River Eea in the quaint village of Cark in Cartmel, Cumbria. Closely situated near Lake Windermere and the national park, whilst adorning characterful features, an enclosed patio, and riverside views, the cottage makes the ideal base for a romantic getaway, inviting two guest and two furry companions. Park up to the roadside before travelling by foot to the cottage, firstly reaching the homely sitting room, complete with a Smart TV, plush seating, a gas fire, and a charming window seat, perfect for enjoying the vistas of the river and the fields beyond. Continue through to the contemporary kitchen/diner, well-equipped to rustle up delicious meals and keep on top of your holiday washing. Discover the conservatory, the ideal place to enjoy a morning coffee or a late-night tipple, or head outdoors for an alfresco affair, benefiting from an enclosed patio with access to an external outbuilding for further appliances and lockable bike storage. The interior is complete with a king-size bedroom with 100% cotton bedding, plush dressing gowns, an en-suite walk-in shower, and a handy dressing room, offering everything you’ll need for a self-catered stay. Running along the front of this pretty Cumbrian cottage is the River Eea which provides a peaceful and tranquil place to enjoy the local wildlife, whilst an abundance of walking and cycling trails can be joined from the doorstep. The small village of Cark in Cartmel has a shop and pub, both just a short walk from the cottage, and the beautiful Holker Hall and Gardens are also within walking distance, spanning across 200-acres of woodland and pretty grounds. The village of Cartmel is nearby and is one of the prettiest villages in the area with its historic priory and a stream running through the centre opening into a square surrounded by award-winning pubs and restaurants, as well as being the home of the world-famous sticky toffee pudding. The Lakeland villages of Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere are all reachable by car, and the tip of Lake Windermere is just 8 miles away and is home to Fell Foot Park where you can hire rowing boats to explore this beautiful area. Grizedale Forest is also a must visit, worth packing your walking boots for, also welcoming of dogs, or if you’d prefer to explore the coastline, Grange-Over-Sands Beach is a short distance away, enveloped by a host of attractions. Enjoy a romantic getaway at Lavender Cottage.

Just two miles from Cartmel, one of the loveliest places in the Lake District, is the small Lakeland community of Cark in Cartmel. With two excellent traditional old pubs, great walks to the nearby beach overlooking Morecambe Bay, a selection of small stores, and good access to the Furness line train, Cark offers a lot to its visitors. From here, it takes only a short trip to reach Holker Hall, the magnificent residence of Lord Cavendish, where you may visit the public-accessible mansion, gardens, and deer park in addition to the licenced brasserie The Ilex. Take advantage of the fantastic walking opportunities in the stunning, unspoiled countryside or stop by the nearby Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum, and The National Hunt Racecourse.

Everything you could possibly need and more is there. The welcome pack was very well received by us and our dog, Oscar. Thankyou for making it an extra special Christmas for us. It is in a lovely spot and even with the bad weather we had some great days out. Karen, Kevin and Oscar

The cottage was spotlessly clean, so comfortable and well equipped. The owners have thought of everything, we couldnt fault it. A very generous welcome pack for us and our dog which was lovely, thank you. The cottage is really homely and lovely to come back to after long walks in this stunning part of the country. The sofa is so comfortable, bed & bathroom lovely and the kitchen is really well equipped. The river outside was so picturesque and relaxing to hear. The neighbours next door were so lovely and gave us some useful tips of the area. We explored the surrounding area and there are so many gorgeous places to visit nearby. Cartmel is magical. We had a really great week and would highly recommend this lovely cottage. Our dog Duncan had the best time ever. Thank you! Jan, John & Duncan the happy Cocker Spaniel.
