About this property

Kirkby Stephen 4.9 miles. Nestled in the pretty village of Warcop, wrapped in an abundance of greenery, is 5 The Old Sawmill, an end-terraced cottage boasting a stunning exterior. The cottage is in an ideal location for Cumbria and the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines AONB. This traditional sandstone fronted cottage is ideal for couples, families or a group of friends searching for a peaceful spot with hiking and cycling routes just paces away. Explore and unwind in Warcop from the get-go; a convenient off-road parking space for two cars greets you on arrival, take a few steps to the charming front door, inviting you into the hallway, where you can kick off your shoes before venturing around the home. Open the solid oak door to the right to find the open-plan living space, finished to an exceptionally high standard and bathed in natural light from the patio doors. Keep your feet toasty with the underfloor heating as you wander around the open-plan space; here you will discover a Smart TV in the corner of the room, curl up on the sofa and catch up on your favourite Netflix series with a glass of wine. Step over to the modern fitted kitchen for all the necessities you need to create mouth-watering dishes, including an electric oven and hob, a microwave and a Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee pod machine for a steaming cup of coffee in the morning. When dinner is served, settle down at the elegant dining table, popping open a bottle of fizz to toast to a wonderful escape to the country. For an alternative dining arrangement, take yourself and your group onto the rear patio to soak in the tranquility of the village whilst you tuck into a tasty meal or barbecue. As the day comes to an end, retreat up the wooden stairs to the family bathroom, with a superb deluge shower over the bath, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the rolling countryside. Choose between two tastefully furnished double bedrooms, with exceptional views to remind you of your rural location, as well as a Smart TV to accompany you. Tuck up the younger children in the bunk bedroom, which offers ample storage to house belongings and is beautifully decorated in neutral colours. The bunk beds have the added advantage of a three quarter sized bed below. In the morning, gather around the breakfast bar to have a good breakfast to prepare you for the day ahead; plan an itinerary to take advantage of the stunning surroundings. Lace up your walking boots and embark on an adventure to Warcop Fells for glorious views and amazing wildlife, or for some engrossing history, tour Brough Castle to view the remains of the ancient building and enjoy an ice cream or a cup of tea at the tearoom adjacent. The market town of Kirkby Stephen sits close to Warcop, which boasts picturesque surroundings and is renowned for its excellent walking and cycling routes, with four nature reserves to explore. A walk around the market town will reveal boutique and antique shops, galleries, crafts and plenty of places to pick up a home-made cake. The attractive town of Sedbergh is also within easy reach, here you can visit Farfield Mill to see remarkable, handcrafted art and for more impressive sights head slightly north of Sedbergh to Cautley Spout to view England's highest waterfall, an amazing spot for a picnic. To uncover more of Cumbria's past, visit Penrith to see the magnificent 14th-century Penrith Castle, which rests on a grassy meadow, or travel a few miles South Penrith to Lowther Castle, surrounded by woodland, where an adventure park awaits in the woods; the perfect day out for younger children. Not far away are the picturesque market towns of Barnard Castle and Middleton-in-Teesdale from where you can explore the beauty of the North Pennines, including the spectacular High and Low Force Waterfalls and Raby Castle. Also easy to reach is the village of Reeth in Upper Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales. Reeth enjoys a magnificent setting on a plateau above the River Swale, surrounded by panoramic views of hills and moorland. For a memorable escape to the unspoilt countryside, stay at 5 The Old Sawmill.

Lovely views out to the back. Everything was to hand and there was no need to wonder where things were or how they worked. Easy parking. Nice local footpaths for dog walking, and also close to lots of great long distance footpaths. Both Kirkby Stephen and Appleby not far away for other amenities.
