Located within the close proximity of Alston in Cumbria, The Old Buttress was renovated in 2021 and is now a cosy annexe accommodation for up to two guests. The spacious kitchen and open-plan living area with a wood burning stove provides a warm welcome to cyclists and walkers on even the wettest of days. Indeed, there is a covered utility area with a separate washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for drying off and storing muddy boots and coats upon returning from the abundant outdoor pursuits. The Old Buttress has a fabulous bedroom with a king-size bed and a balcony with seating for two, where you can take in the panoramic, far reaching views or star gaze on a clear summer's night.
Alston claims to be the highest market settlement in England, sitting 1,000 feet above sea level. The market town itself offers an abundance of shops and eateries for visitors to enjoy. The Cane Workshop at Stokoe House in the town centre is an award winning marmalade, preserves and chutney producer. The Old Buttress is a lovely spot. The delightful owners have created a modern, tasteful and comfortable holiday home with all mod cons..The wood burner was very welcome during our February stay..! The views from the property are stunning - and we particularly enjoyed watching the hares in the next door field! Our dog liked the garden, especially the stream.. We went on long walks most days, the majority by very pretty rivers Some nice local cafes nearby, and Hadrians Wall was an easy drive away. We are definitely hoping to return…

Stunning property, beautifully layed out and with everything you need for the most relaxing of holidays away from everything. Views were amazing. Loved watching the birds especially the kestrels and walking along the south Tyne river.
