Located within the close proximity of Alston in Cumbria, The Old Buttress was renovated in 2021 and is now a cosy annexe accommodation for up to two guests. The spacious kitchen and open-plan living area with a wood burning stove provides a warm welcome to cyclists and walkers on even the wettest of days. Indeed, there is a covered utility area with a separate washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for drying off and storing muddy boots and coats upon returning from the abundant outdoor pursuits. The Old Buttress has a fabulous bedroom with a king-size bed and a balcony with seating for two, where you can take in the panoramic, far reaching views or star gaze on a clear summer's night.
Alston claims to be the highest market settlement in England, sitting 1,000 feet above sea level. The market town itself offers an abundance of shops and eateries for visitors to enjoy. The Cane Workshop at Stokoe House in the town centre is an award winning marmalade, preserves and chutney producer. The Old Butress was perfect for a peaceful relaxing break. The cottage is in such a beautiful location very rural with fantastic views. The cottage is furnished really well and is well equipped. The welcome basket was much appreciated and the log burner was great on an evening no need to put the heating on! Jane was so welcoming and we would love to stay again sometime.
