Outdoor fun continues at Whinlatter Forest Park (12 miles), where mountain biking trails wind through the trees, alongside a cafe and the adrenaline-filled Go Ape. Visit the Solway Coast National Landscape, known for its rich birdlife and long sandy beaches. Alternatively, Keswick (18.5 miles) is a hub for outdoor activities – try everything from ghyll scrambling and climbing to water sports on Derwentwater.
