Beautiful farmhouse in a peaceful location. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need for a relaxing stay. We are a family of 10 ranging in age from 18 - 81. There were no animals in the fields adjoining the rear garden which meant our nervous dog loved being outside and we didn’t have to worry about him being too barky! Just for awareness, the fence and garden gate had some gaps in places - thankfully, our tubby dog couldn’t squeeze through but anything smaller than a bichon might have done. We loved the games room (although both cues need tips gluing on), the beds were super comfortable - which is really important to me as I have a slipped disc- the bathrooms were deluxe and the lounge, kitchen and dining room all great. The downstairs loo was useful too. The host left us tea, coffee and a bottle of milk which was much appreciated. There is nothing really in safe walking distance from the house so cars are needed to get to anywhere. Uber eats worked but one takeaway that we used (Pedros) was unable to accept our online order without a street name (which the house doesn’t have) so we drove and collected it. The teenagers planned to go out one night but couldn’t get an uber for hours so had to stay in. They were cheered up with a trip to primark in Carlisle the next day though 😆 The only criticism of the house is the back door - it stuck so badly that only the men in house could open it and, letting the dog out for a wee at 6am meant waking everyone as the whole house shook! The bathroom door also didn’t lock properly which we overcame by hanging something on the door when it was in use.. we would definitely return to Fieldside farmhouse again and would recommend it to anyone.

Great place for a large group/family to stay - great location for what we were after and places we wanted to go. 5 mins from Cockermouth for Wordsworth’s House and shopping. Dodd Woods, the Lorton Valley and Keswick are close by. The owner is very friendly and amenable and we loved meeting the horses. The house is very comfortable with two big bathrooms and a kitchen with everything you would need and the heating makes the place cost in colder months. There was no house manual so we weren’t sure what to do with recycling and a washing basket and outside clothes line would have been useful. But we would definitely recommend staying here!

We came to fieldside for a week over new years and we loved every minute of it.Firstly john the owner is a fantastic person and made sure everything was perfect for us and went above and beyond to make sure the kids enjoyed their time around the farm. The cottage itself is in a fantastic location 5 minutes from cockermouth and a local pub 15 minutes walk. Plenty to do in the local area and keswick only 30 minutes away. The actual cottage again is fantastic, plenty of space, comfortable bedrooms and modern bathrooms. We had 0 complaints during our stay and we would love to come back in the future if we can all line our holidays up again! Thanks for all great week John
