We had a lovely 1 week holiday in the Barn Owl cottage. The big TV in each room was amazing. The disabled room and bathroom was especially useful for mum. There is a lot to see in the area if you like wildlife. There is a RSPB visitor centre on the property and everyone is super friendly. At the time of the visit there was super rare Ospreys nesting in the garden and everyone wanted to be the first to see the chicks. When I was cycling I saw deer, weasel, hares, rare birds and the roads have free roaming cattle on them. We loved to dine at the local Roman Garrison museum(5min drive). Called the Solway Lounge and Garrison. At Penrith is the most beautiful Garden centre in England. RHS winner 2025. The food at the restaurant is almost Mitchelin star- called Larch Cottage nursery. Prices are reasonable but getting a table can be difficult.

Every effort has been made to give you an enjoyable stay. The beds and furniture are all very comfy and we all slept really well. The house is well equipped so many little extras that was really appreciated, like a supply of tea and coffee, logs for the fire pits, dishwasher pods and especially some bottles of wine spritzers. The view of the Solway firth is lovely with beautiful sunsets. Kelly was very helpful too. Some things that could be looked at is that the dining table really should be moved about 6 inches away from the kitchen unit to give better access to the cutlery drawer as you have to move a chair to avoid the drawer damaging it. Also you could write your name in the dust on top of the fridge which is clearly visible coming down the stairs. We understand that space is limited, but the dining table and dishwasher are far too small for a full compliment of guests. That said, we would happily return for another stay 😀. Thank you
