Garden isn’t fully secure, so you must stay vigilant as there is a road adjacent to the boundary. There was only one teaspoon! The welcome instructions are completely out of date with the bin information incorrect. It was guesswork and it was only when the bags of rubbish we stored in the bin in a brick shed were removed we knew we had done the right thing. When we arrived there was a leak in the boot room with water running down the wall. No note to say that the plumber was coming the next morning. When he did come, the water was off all morning. No communication from Patrick on this and nowhere did it say he would be coming every morning to tend to a horse. Caused initial problems for me as I had the dogs outside! He then returned a couple of days later, to mow the whole grounds (not just the garden), leaving the gate wide open and I had to keep the dogs inside for several hours. This should really be done on changeover day as there is plenty of time. No bin in bathroom upstairs either. However, Patrick was very helpful with wood for the fire and the welcome wine and biscuits were a nice touch

We had a week with the dogs at Rushgill House. Absolutely loved everything about it! Perfect place for the dogs with a huge garden and no immediate neighbours to worry about if they barked. Lots of space and pretty much everything you need. Of all the dog friendly cottages we’ve stayed in, this was by far the best. We will definitely return.

Just back from a wonderful week at Rushgill House. Location is perfect - relaxed and secluded but then also only a short drive to Penrith. Best of everything! Photo’s just don’t do the house justice! Matt is a wonderful host, friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble and promptly responded to any queries we had - we couldn’t fault him! 😊 Patrick who owns the horses nearby is equally as lovely and provided info on attractions and where to visit etc. whole party thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so much so we’re already planning our return! Highly recommend this little gem!
