Seascale is a modest yet picturesque coastal village that grew in popularity as a Victorian vacation destination when the Furness Railway was built in the 1850s. Seascale still has seaside rail links and is rich in history, with much of its Victorian beauty remaining. The adjacent community of Ravenglass is home to the famed Ravenglass to Eskdale Train, a narrow gauge steam railway known as "L'al Ratty" that operates daily from the station through some of Britain's most beautiful and spectacular countryside.
