About Hidden River

Hidden River Cabins are situated on a private estate in a beautiful and untouched part of Cumbria. They're simply unlike anything you'd find anywhere else and if you're looking for privacy, serenity and seclusion, this needs to be your next holiday destination. Surrounding the cabins are spectacular views of the Cumbrian countryside and the flowing River Lyne. If you're heading out for the day, Carlisle is only 20 minutes away and both Scotland and the Lake District are easily accessible. Parking is provided during your stay though the amount of cars will depend on the cabin you choose.

Luxury Log Cabins

Each cabin has a luxurious interior with a wood burner in the middle of the open plan living and kitchen area. Bed linen, pillows, duvets and soft towels are all provided. A freezer is available for your catch of the day and there's a boot room for dirty wellies after a packed of walking, biking or fishing.

Due to the secluded location, the cabins are unable to get mobile phone reception, however sometimes it's good to just unplug, switch off and truly get away from it all.

You're more than welcome to bring your pets along with you for free. Dogs are welcome to sleep in a designated area downstairs in the cabins as long as they have their own beds.

Roe Deer Cabin: Named after the numerous sightings of deer in the area. Two double bedrooms, sleeps six.

Otterstone Cabin: In a secluded location overlooking the Old Mill Race. Particularly good for fishing as it's close to a weir where fish lie. Two double bedrooms, sleeps up to six.

Kingfisher Cabin: Two double beds and a sofa bed in the open plan lounge. Sleeps up to six. There is a little bit of mobile phone coverage on the decking area.

Bluebell Cabin: One of the more spacious properties. Features four double bedrooms; two doubles and two twins. Can sleep up to ten so is perfect for family holidays.

Foxglove Cabin: Sleeps up to ten people across four bedrooms; two doubles and two twins. Perfect for a family retreat or a getaway with friends.

Hidden River House

Perfect for groups, Hidden River House East and the West Wing are available as two holiday lets for up to 8 + 2 people. Enjoy the stunning valley views from the hot tub and the accommodation offers plenty of space in four ensuite bedrooms plus a double sofa bed. Set over three floors, the living area has a wood burner in each wing and catering is available at our onsite restaurant.

Weddings and Honeymoons

Make your special day completely unforgettable by hiring out Hidden River Cabins for the ceremony and reception. The woods and river surroundings provide the perfect backdrop and with a professional photographer on hand*, the day will be perfectly captured in all its glory.

The new oak frame reception building is ideal for welcome drinks and the main reception meal. For larger groups of people there's a space between the Foxglove and Bluebell cabins which can be used for a tipi, yurt or marquee. There's help on hand if you need to coordinate furniture hire, cutlery and crockery, and even loos.

In order to use Hidden River for your wedding it's required that you rent out the Kingfisher, Bluebell and Foxglove cabins to make the occasion as special and private as it can be.

The wedding breakfast menu, for a minimum of 50 people, includes three meat choices, three salads and bread, and dessert for £54 per head (including VAT).

Decorations are available from £250 and minimum bar spend applies.

Honeymoon packages are available and they include a three night stay, champagne on ice when you arrive, roses in the kitchen and rose petals on the bed. The Bluebell and Foxglove cabins have an extra large luxurious hot tub.

Outdoor Activities

Whether it's the whole family or just two of you, you're guaranteed to find something adventurous for you to do. You could hire a bike from Bike 7 in Longtown and embark on the fantastic Border Reivers Cycle Trail, go for a horse ride or pony trek, and don't forget the miles of walking routes that begin from your doorstep.

The River Lyne isn't just a pretty piece of scenery, it's also great for fishing. Even if you've never fished before it's still a great experience and rod hire is available from £20 per rod for the duration on your stay. Please enquire about the best fishing spots.

Around and About

There are plenty of things to see and do in nearby Carlisle including the Castle, Cathedral and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery.

If you're keen to get a unique perspective of the area, why not head to Carlisle Airport and take to the skies in a Gyroplane, see all the beautiful of the Lake District from a breathtaking height.

For your sat nav, use the postcode CA6 5TU.

From the south: Take exit 44 of the M6 and turn right onto the A7, signposted for Longtown. Follow the A7 and turn right at the main crossroads towards the Health Centre. Stay on this road until you're out of Longtown and then turn right, signposted for Solport. Stay on this road for four miles. After Brackenhill Farm, take a steep left and follow the sign for "Hidden River Cabins".

From the north: Take the exit on the M6 and turn left onto the A7 to Longtown. Turn right at the main crossroads and stay on this road until you come out of Longtown. Then turn right, signposted for Solport. Stay on this road for 4 miles, go past Brackenhill Farm, take a steep left and you'll see signs for "Hidden River Cabins".
