About this property

Rose Cottage is a picture-perfect retreat built from local red brick, with plenty of character inside and out. Located in the traditional village of Crosby on Eden with an award-winning pub just minutes away, Rose Cottage is close to Hadrian's Wall, the Scottish Borders and the North Lakes. Ideal for a family or a small group of friends who wish to explore this area of the world, Rose Cottage offers cosy and comfortable accommodation throughout the year.

With a cosy open fire in the living room and plenty of country cottage charm, you'll feel immediately at home upon arrival. Furnished in a comfortable and eclectic style with a fabulous leather chesterfield sofa, there's plenty of exposed stone and period features in the living room with its Freeview TV and DVD. The separate dining room has another open fire and the fully equipped, modern kitchen is the ideal place to rustle up some breakfast as you enjoy the views over the lovely garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a king-size double with Freeview TV and a twin, sharing the family bathroom with its cast iron bath and shower over. Rose Cottage has a particularly pretty garden that's large and safely enclosed, with a picnic table and outdoor lighting making a great place to unwind in the evening after a busy day walking in the Lakes or exploring Eden Valley. On street parking is available outside the cottage. If you're a keen golfer, the Eden Golf course is less than 1 mile away while the river Eden itself is a paradise for the trout angler. Enjoy windsurfing and canoeing at Talkin Tarn, just 5 miles away, or simply take a leisurely walk around the Tarn itself. Just 10 miles from the glorious Scottish borders and a 30 minute scenic drive from the heart of the North Lakes, Rose Cottage is also close to Hadrian's Wall and the historic city of Carlisle with its cathedral, castle, museum, cinemas and excellent shopping is just a 4 mile drive away. With plenty of family attractions for all ages in the surrounding countryside, Rose Cottage is the perfect location for families who love to get active in the great outdoors, whatever the weather and time of year.

Carlisle is set in the county of Cumbria, situated just 10 miles south of the Scottish Borders and is nicknamed the Border City. During Roman times the town was established to serve the forts for Hadrian's Wall, which runs east from the city across the country to Wallsend on the east coast and today is recognised as a World Heritage Site.

A nice welcome package greeted us so we did not need to worry about anything! We would certainly recommend Rose Cottage for a nice break at any time of the year!

We visited Carlisle, Penrith, Gretna and Lockerbie, also walks along Hadrians pass, and the river Eden. The cottage had every facility you required. The owner Lynn, was very pleasant, lived in the village, nothing was to much trouble, if you needed help with anything. A very pleasant week, the weather of course was a bonus.

Lovely cottage, and really nice owners who live nearby if you need anything. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We found the Wi-Fi a little slow and the mobile signal was intermittent, but that’s due to the location and the thickness of the cottage walls. It was fine most of the time, but we were working from home and sometimes we lost connection momentarily during online meetings or phone calls. This didn’t detract from the loveliness of the cottage. The location was great, in a lovely village and I l enjoyed being opposite the village school. The neighbours were very friendly. I was sad to leave and would be happy to return.
