We were in Barrow visiting family and it was perfectly situated for our needs.

However we felt that there were one too many negatives for us. From a visitors point of view, we felt that the photo showing the off road parking for one car was misleading. The Cottage is attached to the owners property and though they weren’t there when we stayed and we had use of all the space shown in the photo, the actual space is to the right and it is very tight to get a vehicle into. Granted we have a VW Transporter so no chance at all of getting in the space if the owners want access too. The property is essentially “in the burbs” on a surprisingly busy road, don’t exactly know why but “The Cottage” conjured up a mental image that was decidedly quieter. The kitchen is well appointed but could do with scissors, a bigger frying pan and instructions for the oven. The lounge is spacious and has a good smart tv (as long as you are already a subscriber to Netflix or Amazon) however the sofa and chairs are very uncomfortable for a relaxing night in front of the tele. The beds are just ok for comfort and there is actually only one wardrobe which we needed to go out and buy hangers for, something could be done quite easily with the airing cupboard in the other bedroom to make another wardrobe. The bedrooms would also benefit from curtains as the blinds let a lot of light in early morning. The bathroom has a good shower and plenty of space but would benefit from a couple of hooks on the door and the towel rail wasn’t working for our stay making it hard to dry any towels (I may be wrong but there were disconnected pipes behind the kitchen bin, could these be for the rail??) By comparison to the many other cottages we’ve stayed in, the info pack should have all the appliance instructions included with it. From our point of view most of the negatives are easily rectified however the location wasn’t ideal but that’s reflected in the rental price. It seems The Cottage is relatively new to the rental market and hopefully the owners will use our critique to provide subsequent visitors all they could need.
