Aspatria is a tiny town in west Cumbria with a long history of human occupancy. The town is noted for its 19th century St. Kentigern church, which is built on the location of an old Roman route. Aspatria is a fantastic location for exploring the Cumbrian countryside, being only 5 miles from the shore and on the edge of the Lake District National Park. It has a train station as well as a few stores and taverns. Wigton, a market town a few miles to the north, still maintains a market every Tuesday in the covered market hall.

The owner showed us another entrance which was fine. Sadly first impressions were under par because upon inspection of the lawn it was covered in a lot of dog poo! So I had to pick it up before allowing our dogs onto the garden area. However the cleanliness of the rest of their property was good. The owner had kindly left us some nice provisions which we appreciated. We would have to agree with another reviewer who commented on the clutter. The house is a lovely renovation but it felt pretty claustrophobic and rather than having ornaments in the bedrooms it would be better to have more storage. As dog owners we generally are happy to be with somewhere were they live but as they lived above and ran around a lot, it was a bit annoying especially at 6.30am. The summer house was a great addition and we enjoyed spending our evenings in there. My only other comment would be that the rug in the bathroom is not the cleanest...Sorry this is a mixed review but it didn't meet our expectations.

You can not see the Blue door you are told to look out for as it's at the back of house and the noise up stairs at night and in morning was just too much
