About this property

Great Broughton 1.1 miles. This brand new single-storey lodge sits on the Brigham Holiday Park, just four miles from the Lake District National Park boundary. Benefitting from off-road parking, a wrap-around decking and open-plan living, Rhodes Retreat is a fantastic escape for a family or group of up to five looking to spend some quality time in this delightful part of Cumbria. After a day of fell walking, look forward to kicking back in the open-plan living area, sinking into the sofa and catching up on your favourite TV shows. Cross the threshold into the kitchen, fitted with a range of appliances to assist with home-cooking, whilst the dining area is where you can gather as a family and enjoy mealtimes. Step outside and enjoy the last of the evening sun from the wrap-around decking, complete with furniture set for alfresco dining or simply a spot to sit back and take in the park views. When sleep calls, the master bedroom houses a double bed with en-suite basin and WC, whilst there is also a twin for the little ones. Allow the chef a break from cooking and head out to the local pubs for some grub; Great Broughton is just a mile away and home to the Brewery house and Punch Bowl Inn Pub. Work off all the food with a wander around the River Derwent, whilst those seeking a bit more adventure can cycle the Working to Low Lorton Trail or head into the Lake District for watersport activities at Bassenthwaite Lake. Cockermouth is two miles away and boasts a great selection of amenities including independent shops, pubs, restaurants, and cafés, plus the National Trust attraction of Wordsworth House and Garden is a must for those literary lovers, once the home to the famous William Wordsworth! If that’s not enough, the attractions of Keswick can be found further afield, including the Derwent Pencil Museum, Puzzling Place and Keswick Museum, or take a leisurely stroll along the River Greta and appreciate the scenery. Choose Rhodes Retreat and start planning your holiday itinerary today.

Great Broughton is a small village located in the civil parish of Broughton and the Cumbrian Borough of Allerdale. It provides all you need and more for a self-catered stay close to the Lake District, including three pubs, a Royal British Legion branch, and a Post Office with village store. With the River Derwent running through the neighbourhood, there are several beautiful walking pathways nearby, including both coastal footpaths and rich terrain. The National Trust's Wordsworth House and Garden, the former home of romantic poet Wordsworth himself, is located in Cockermouth. Here, you can take a tour of the Georgian townhouse and explore the riverside garden that served as Wordsworth's inspiration. It is home to 18th-century varieties of vegetables, fruit, herbs, and flowers as well as a friendly flock of heritage chickens. Additionally, Cockermouth's mediaeval castle remains, lovely Memorial Gardens, and forest gardens are all worth exploring. The primary shopping district for west Cumbria is located in the coastal town of Workington, which also boasts the Helena Thompson Museum, the imposing Workington Hall, and a wealth of fascinating history just waiting to be explored. Enjoy a day of family fun on Moss Bay Beach or explore the stunning Lake District National Park, a World Heritage Site that is home to the impressive mountain Scafell Pike, lovely lakes, and lots of outdoor adventure. It is a true wonder to be seen at any time of year.
