About this property

This charming, Grade II listed 17th century thatched cottage rests in the idyllic village of Bunbury in Cheshire, with good transport links to the cities of Chester, Manchester and Liverpool. The cottage has been lovingly-restored to provide a comfortable holiday accommodation for families and friends, whilst preserving the character of a 350-year-old building. The cosy sitting room is atmospheric and the oldest part of the cottage, complete with 17th century oak beams, original tiled flooring and a woodburning stove, perfect for a cosy night in on the sofa. The kitchen provides an ample selection of appliances to assist you throughout your stay, whilst the well-presented dining room offers a formal environment to enjoy your meals. Upstairs rests the two well-presented bedrooms: a double and a twin which is ideal for younger guests. Enjoy a lawned garden to the front of the property, with an alternative patio to the rear. The village of Bunbury captures the quintessential feel of the area perfectly, offering essential amenities including a supermarket and three pubs to try. Bunbury was also used as the location for the ITV drama Home Fires. The woodland trail of Beeston Castle and the magnificent Sandstone Trail is less than ten minutes away, so there should be plenty of outdoor activity on your agenda. Look further afield and you have access to three vibrant cities including Chester, Liverpool and Manchester which are perfect choices for a day out. If you fancy a rural retreat away from the rush of everyday life, Chapel Cottage has all you could ask for.

Bunbury is a pretty village situated in the heart of Cheshire, to the south of Tarporley and the north west of Nantwich. Many people will recognise the village as ‘Great Paxford’ from the ITV series ‘Home Fires’. There is a coffee shop, three pubs, a local supermarket and the impressive Church of Saint Bonifiace and a monument of Sir George Beeston in the village. The Shropshire Union canal passes through the village and the staircase lock is a popular attraction.

The fact that it has its own parking space is a great advantage. Small enclosed front garden. Short walk a very good pub and a chippy. Highly recommended

The amenities were great overall however the kitchen would benefit from a bit more equipment eg a sieve and some larger pans.

Garden was lovely and we were disappointed that the weather was so cold we couldn't take advantage of it. The only negative was the quilt on the single bed. As we weren't a couple,( mother and adult daughter) my daughter found it rather small. Maybe I should have made this clear on booking. We were lucky we had brought a throw with us. However I'd give the booking 99% score.
