Inside, the space is simple yet comfortable, with individual electric heaters in each room to keep you snug. Two sets of patio doors flood the lodge with natural light and offer far-reaching views across fields leading down to a neighbouring pond. One set of doors opens to an enclosed seating area—perfect for bringing the outside in and unwinding while watching the alpaca’s graze. The lodge is pet-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged companions to enjoy the fresh air and wide-open spaces. Good location for walks along River Weaver and canals. Restaurant/pub and cafes only few minutes walk. Alpacas were friendly and came to be fed twice a day. Accommodation was quirky, spacious and had some homely touches eg lamps, pictures of the alpacas, cushions etcNo TV or Internet during our stay. Owner attended but unable to fix. Told to hot-spot TV to our phone but couldn't get it to work so that was that.Cleanliness lacking. 7/8 Pillows flat and completely yellow and stained with drool stains. One duvet same, ripped and completely stained with questionable stains all over. Mirror and tap in bathroom covered in toothpaste. Mirror wall (?) at side of toilet dribbled with stains. Oven dirty. Fridge still had previous occupants' opened juice cartons in. Bedside cabinet shelves covered in dust and dirt. When toilet is flushed water gurgles in bath waste pipe when the 2 should not be connected. Bathroom floor is on a slope so tiles are uneven and sink slopes backwards. Outdoor furniture is dirty. Access is via loose, wobbly slabs on top of bark.I booked this accommodation as the 3rd of our holiday and there was a marked difference between the 3 where guests were made to feel welcome in the previous 2. I am undergoing chemotherapy and need cleanlines. I resorted to sleeping in my sleeping bag as wasn't confident the bed was clean enough. Only an empty hand wash bottle was left for use. Didn't bring cleanliness up with owner as I can read all these complaints on previous reviews and they have not been addressed. They would have had to remove us from the property to clean it properly.Also lots of dishes and glasses but nothing except pots and 1 spatula for cooking. No oven trays. Pots were dirty so didn't use.

Really enjoyed this quirky retreat. Walk out the door to be greeted by the 3 Alpacas, who will need feeding ( food is supplied by the host) or bring your own carrots. We enjoyed the secluded aspect , just what is needed to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. The stroll along the canal towpath and river( approx 5 k) was perfect as you can start and end at the pub.Hosts are very helpful and friendly.

A great stay. The alpacas were very friendly and entertaining. The lodge was comfortable and had everything we needed for a quiet weekend away. Lovely walks along the canal and nice local pub, too.
