We had so much fun at alpaca lodge, the location was perfect for our adventures to Chester zoo and Delamere forest. And we could have hung out with the alpacas for hours! It was a comfy base, very rustic but great for our short break. The only downside were the kitchen facilities, no microwave as advertised and fairly basic, but it didn’t really affect us as we were out and about so much. All in all a lovely break away and we would definitely come back.

We stayed here for three nights in September. Two grandparents and a young toddler. The space was plenty big enough for us with two generous bedrooms and plenty of space for clothing. We also brought our dog with us. The lodge had everything we need and more. We failed to let the owners know what time we were arriving which was our fault, however they were soon on hand with advice and instructions. We met the three alpacas straight away and spent plenty of time feeding them which really was the highlight of the stay for us. We used the lodge as a base to attend the monkey park and Gullivers world. It felt very safe staying here. We ate in the two restaurants that were nearby, Riverside Inn and The Leigh. Both are recommended. People were friendly and the food was good and reasonably priced. There are some lovely walks surrounding the lodge, including a canal walk. It's a really peaceful place to stay. We will definitely return here. Some special memories for sure.

I don’t like to give negative reviews but this was the worst holiday we’ve ever been on. Rustic does not really describe it. Cold and draughty, inefficient heating, poorly equipped for self-catering, no welcome, no instructions for anything, not even a bin indoors. Garden gate had no catch on so not enclosed for dogs as always blowing open. Branches falling off trees onto roof. We managed to stay for three days and then went home as it wasn’t the relaxing holiday we had really been looking forward to and that’s why I’m writing this review because holidays are supposed to be something special and we just felt like we’d wasted our money.
