Upon arrival managed to park on the main road across the road from Ivy Cottage and most days there was space to park on the road just the Friday night we had to park down the road on a side street where via the welcome book the owners had recommended trying if struggling with parking. My son managed to reverse one of the cars into the parking space which if you take it steady is manageable but it’s a bit of a tight corner to navigate at first. The house was lovely and warm on arrival and the view from the top floor is great. The ground floor bathroom is very small but handy as an extra toilet, we didn’t attempt to use the shower just took turns using the upstairs one which is lovely and powerful and that bathroom is massive…. The beds were comfy but just a bit strange upon stripping the beds at the end of the stay that the single bed mattresses are smaller than the frames, that bedroom could also do with the curtains lining as the lamppost across the road shines straight in, but a simple thing to rectify. The only issue we found was the same as a previous guest that the Wi-Fi is not up to par as we tried to cast a film onto the tv to watch one evening but it wouldn’t even load so a game of snakes and ladders it was, lol. The house is ideally located we walked into Chester which took us about 15 minutes and not far to drive to Chester zoo too. All in all a good stay.

It is quirky but welcoming. There is a slight smell in the main bathroom of cat pee or something, easily sorted. Easily walkable into town, but quiet enough to enjoy. Perhaps a map would have been useful. We bought one.

The cheap slow ( 2mb - 14mb) was a disappointment, slower than the hotspot on my mobile. I checked the 3g mobile broadband is abot £20 a month, but for £22 - £25 a month you can get up to 60mb fixed broadband from at least 4 ISPs at the address. I am not a gamer but I do expect to be able to read my daily paper and check my emails without constant waiting. I do think Sykes should check minimum speeds and publish as part of the property information or at least warn its not proper broadband.
