The town of Middlesborough is a short drive away to discover local history at the Dorman Museum and Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, plenty of green parks, and the National Trust's 18th-century Ormesby Hall. Further along the coast, you'll find Whitby, a historic seaside town with a golden sandy beach, the ruins of Whitby Abbey overlooking the sea, and The Cinder Track walking trail which stretches to Scarborough. Alternatively, escape the hustle and bustle to explore the North York Moors, scattered with walking trails, historic ruins, and picture-perfect villages. They went the extra mile we had fresh flowers and other things. The house is really well decorated. Couldn't fault it.

Lovely welcome gifts on our arrival, including fresh milk, fresh bread, a box of chocs and a bottle of wine - very thoughtful! Stocked well with all the items you might need - only thing we could have done with that wasn't there was a chopping board for the kitchen - very minor point. Would stay again on another visit to the area.

The kids loved going up to the snug and chilling out there. We found the beds to be really comfortable and all slept well throughout our stay. I really liked the bath and enjoyed having a soak at the end of the day to help relax. We were extremely grateful to the owner who had left us a loaf of bread, butter, milk, chocolate and wine after a long drive up. The area itself is very close to Saltburn by the sea which has a beautiful beach with great views of the surrounding terrain and sea. The cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy lots of other coastal areas so we did visit those too (Redcar, Kettleness, Sandsend and Whitby). York is about an hour away by car and definitely worth a visit. We took the kids to a theme park (Lightwater Valley) which we all really enjoyed and this is also about an hour's drive. We would definitely stay at Willow Cottage again if we were ever in the same area. Thank you.
